Locke is an idiot. He has let himself be fooled too many times. He never learns. and I'm sorry to say it because I did like him.

He was cool in the first season, then he was a doofus in the second. He was cool again in the third season, but now he is a doofus again. Maybe he'll cool up again next year.

I love how Ben makes Locke look like an idiot and he gets all mad.

yeah but Ben manipulates everyone. Locke just can't seem to handle being jerked around because he father jerked him around a couple of times. just an idea

Locke is searching and I think he will turn around and become one of the major heroes later in the season. At present, he accepts he doesn't know and so humbly he must see where Ben takes him until he is in a position to turn the tables and control the situation.
There are a number of things John needs to know. He needs to know how to summon the house, the hut or whatever it is. Why the helicopter crew came to the island, who is in charge of the boat and where is it going and everything else.
Jack is different. Jack believes, forget everything, forget Ben, forget about it all - just get everybody off the island and out of here.
Everybody else is either following Ben, John or Jack.
At present we know some are still following John, Jack believes that they should have stayed on the Island and Ben is still doing whatever he is doing for whatever reason which is part of his relationship with the island.
What John is doing is being submissive, controlled but also keeping his cards close to him and waiting to play his trump card after he has gained enough information from whatever parties he can gather information from.
He seems to be playing the safest card.
Another way of putting it is, if he had just put a bullet in Ben's head - told everybody let's live on the island, forget about everything else, this is a magical place, let's be happy then... it will be the end of the series.
All players are moving towards finding the secrets of the island.

Ya know, Locke is a basket-case. Think back to all his prior episodes and flashbacks. Apparently he isn't that well educated (and I'm not looking down on him, just pointing it out) and he has habitually stumbled through episodes where he didn't think through the consequences of his actions. He lost his girlfriend because of his attempt to connect with his dad. He then lost his legs because of his dad.
Locke is a person that is easily manipulated. Exactly the kind of person that would be like putty in Ben's hands. Right now, he thinks that he and Ben are allies again when Ben is using him as he has before.
Like a moth to a flame, John Locke just continues to go back and hit his head on the wall again and again...

i can't believe that Locke fell for Bens line....it was his last bargaining tool....yeah right....did locke actually think that he was in control of ben???I think that is what is meant by Ben being where he wants to be.....he likes to assume the appearance that he is defeated...that's when he does his best work...he really knows how to pull their strings....lol...luv his character

i couldn't agree more. locke has dropped the ball. he is so pitiful right now that even claire thinks she can help...that is not a good sign.
i will say this about locke. he has a way of battling back, and walt is trying to help him so perhaps there's hope for him yet.

oh..i never give up on Locke....whoever gets through falling from a building like that....well...what more do i need to say...i think that he will now have some ammo with whatever Ben told him....must be really shocking and believable for him to let Ben go free

At least Locke takes action, and sometimes gets some answers.
Everyone else just seems to wait around for stuff to fall out of the sky. Jack runs around plenty, but never seems to get any answers or accomplish anything.

I don't understand why Locke let's Ben use him. I would have got all that info Ben gave, then I would have said, "Ok back to your cell." Who cares if he is pissed. I would lie like crazy to that man. He shot Locke. He shouldn't give him the time of day. I don't know why he just didn't get him to confess all that stuff, then lock him back up.

Locke has COMPLETELY lost it right now and I don't believe he will see sense until he does something really bad that possibly even kills someone. It won't be until he does something that bad that he'll snap out of it and revert back to the old Locke!
