Ok. We now know that the freighter crew works for Widmore Industries, and Mr. Widmore wants to exploit the island. We also know about the Oceanic 6. The O6 keeps secrets about the island, and lies about their experience.
With these facts we can come to a couple conclusions:
1) Faraday and Charlotte eventually realize the importance that this island must remain hidden and turn against Widmore. (Miles doesn't seem like he would be mutual on that decision).
2) The losties realize that Ben is right, and eliminate Miles, Charlotte, and Faraday because they will harm the island.
If the freighter team succeeded in their mission the O6 would not be able to keep what really happened a secret.

I don't know if Widmore would tell them that he wants to exploit the island, nor do I think Faraday and/or Charlotte have enough of a vested interest to really care... as we've seen already, they are working on completing their mission and it's going to take a lot for them not to see Ben as evil....
I think your second point is a complicated one because there are already factions split up among the Losties, so while some might align with Ben, in the end I think it will still be difficult to get everyone to do so, but it will be interesting to see if he is the person that convinces the O6 not to tell the truth about what happened.... but since many of them seem to regret this decision, it makes me think that it is something they are forced to do by Widmore or Oceanic/HansoAir

*maybe daniel and charlotte will turn on him...miles is a conman and in it for himself...i still think that miles is a time shifter and not just a ghost whisperer
*I don't think that some of the Losties will ever see the good in Ben....i think daniel will stick around but i'd like charlotte to get a good ass whooping
I agree maybe Miles wasn't talhing to the ghost of the boy but going back to see what happened maybe he can somehow control the time shifting thing?

I think Daniel would want to research the island, so I think he'll stay. Maybe he'll even side with Locke and Ben. But I'm not so sure about Charlotte, she seems interested in the island too. But Miles is there for the money, he could care less about anyone else, I don't like him.

If he can time shift at will, why does he need to be near the body of Naomi to bridge with her? Or in the boy's room to ask about the drug money?

Maybe he needs to at least be near them. Or see at least what they look like.

Since we're talknig about Miles, can anyone explain the ridiculous vacuun cleaner contraption he brought to the house? I assume it was just a prop...but is there a popular wisdom to the contrary?

And the other problem I see with Miles as time shifter is the fact that the flashback of him took place in LA...isn't the theory that the island is the source of teh power to time shift?

Maybe his little dirt devil provided the power necessary for the time travel in LA?

I don't remember Miles time trippin. He's had some flashes but Iwouldn't call those time trippin. It's comming to a point where almost everything is going to relate to time trippin. we got to make sure we don't get confused between the two.

I'm not sure Widmore wants to exploit the island because that info came from Ben's conversation with Locke so I'm suspicious of Ben's explanation. I do believe Widmore wants Ben though.
#1 and #2 are as good as anything, but what about Frank?
Regarding your last point, I think somehow the O6 got some leverage on Widmore and accordingly had to create that cover story about their rescue. Otherwise Widmore could have just left them on the island or whacked them.

That's what I'm talking about.
But it does make you wonder. Why do the 06 say they were the only survivors? What happens on that island for them to cover everything up?
Just like when the cop asked Hurley about Ana Lucia. Hurley said he never met her. Also, now Sayid is working for Ben. Something big has to happen for a cover-up this big to take place.
