You probably have figured it already, but there's no topic on that for discussion so I'm starting one. The importance of Juliet and the pregnancy problems is now very clear - whatever is the special thing on the island, the others (and perhaps widmore as well) would want to eventually introduce it to the whole planet, but that cannot be done as long as the pregnancy problems go on. Pregnant women dying is the side effect of the "magical" property of the island. To sum up, we still don't know what the magical thing is, but it's much more clear why someone from the outside had to be brought up (Juliet) and why the others are so interested in pregnancy. What do you think?

One more thing - Juliet's sister was cured from cancer by the others. That means she must have been brought to the island , doesn't she? I'm guessing we will see more of her in the future, be it as a way of Ben to manipulate Juliet, as part of Jack's search of the island next season, or something else

The "other" utopia is great for a while , but then people start to die off and must be replaced somehow. No progeny, no future! Pregnancy doctor fails and Voila! Have 815 pilot fly plane over the island's magnetic net and Presto! lots of replacements only maybe the chaos theory causes the plan to be just a shade different than was originally planned. It is possible, maybe not probable, tho.

i'm not sure juliet's sister was cured because i wouldn't trust ben without absolute proof like seeing her for myself. also, we don't know if the losties that were cured on the island will retain their health once they leave the island.

i think it's a great story line that babies can't be conceived on the island because that causes whomever is controling the island to always look for new blood so to speak, and it prevents someone from truly colonizing the island.

so what will happen to sun? i say they get her to the freighter to deliver her kid so she doesn't die on the island. i think juliet knows sun will die otherwise.

I'm saying that the island has some special property (we don't know if it's about the healing abilities, mind control, or anything else that you can think of) and the others would like to take benefit of it and "export" this property to the rest of the world. As long as reproduction does not work though, it cannot happen, because it'll destroy the human race. Therefore, it's very important for them to solve that problem.

As for Juliet's sister - I'm just saying we will probably see more of her as Juliet seems to be very important for the story, so her sister might be used to develop the story further.

here's a thought: what if ben poisoned the pregnant women so that juliet would stay on the island.

I am not denying that the island does kill pregnant women, but if Juliet indeed did find a cure, I wouldn't put it past Ben to manipulate Juliet into thinking she still has work to do on the island!!!!!!!!!

Oooh, that's good. I was thinking the same thing. When Ben talked to Juliette about the "lengths he's gone to so he can keep her here", I immediately thought he probably did something to cause her research to appear to fail so she wouldn't leave.

Didn't we see a video with her? I think that it looked just like her...It could've been manipulated somehow, but the show was very careful to show her w/ cancer-always wearing her turban/wrap supposedly w/out cancer-full head of hair. Most cancer vics will stick with one. And she definitely didn't look like she was still going thru chemo/radiation-looked much healthier in the video. I wonder if Ben did do something for her, just to please Juliette but still to keep her there

something to think about: when we see the flashforward (how many years we don't know) with Jack getting ready to jump off the bridge....his parked car causes an accident and it is a woman and little boy....he seems very concerned with her as if he somehow knows her...he wants to do surgery(drunk so can't) and after another MD takes over....it shows Jack waving to the little boy....his name is "Julian"....could this be juliette's sister and nephew...who she named after juliette after she had him and juliette disappeared????

i think only a couple of people picked up on that it was her sister and nephew
