Tips for a First Timer

Dragon Con 2010 will be my first time going to any convention, ever. (Unless you count Lebowksi Fest. )

I need some convention-going tips from the pros. What's the most important thing to know about going to Dragon Con?

Also, I need to find a non-sold-out hotel within walking distance. I hear the parties are in.sane and I don't want to drive because I'm soooooo looking forward to doing Jagerbombs with that frat-tastic douchetard from Ghost Hunters (not really). Any suggestions?

I've never been to comic con type conventions, but if there is an itinerary:

I would pick the ones I would want to go to the most unless you are in a big group where majority rules.
