Proof That Oceanic And Others Are Related????

i swear that this looks like the oceanic symbol....can't be sure...it was on Harpers desk....stationary...from "the other woman"......i always thought maybe there was some link...maybe i'm imagining too????

No i think there is some connection between the Oceanic Airline and the others...If you remember they did know who was on the flight and even mentioned to some that (e.g. Hurley) that maybe they weren't ment to be on that flight. Yet others where specifically told that they need to be on that flight (e.g. Claire). We have also seen how Ben can pretty much manipulate situations in order to achieve what he desires...he wasn't so surprised to findout that there was a great Spinal Surgeon on that flight (good old Jack), and this came after he found out about his spinal tumor. So it is quite possible that there is a connection between Oceanic Airlines and the Others. This could be another reason for the cover up story of finding the plane in the sea, so that no one believes there was an Island that can cure people of their illnesses....Sound like Ben?? i think so!

EXACTLY JOE...AND...what about Jack being a freakin' spinal surgeon while for a while Ben had known without one he would die(thats another thing.....whats up with that....why didn't the island heal him like it did Rose and Locke...that is bothering the hell out of me!!!!!) Also...watch all of the oceanic commercials...there are soooo many pix of the island.....i think that everyone on the plane was there for an exact purpose!!:p

Didn't they just have flight information and so forth from Ben's informants in the outside world?

I thought that's where they get all the information from and also, what we have seen post leaving the Island that the others (ben and company), the dharma initiative, Penelope's dad and Oceanic flight are all different entities with a different relationship and something different to gain from the island.

Widmore can't really be in with DHARMA and that whole collective because then he would know where the island is... it basically seems to split along the lines of Ben/Hostiles/DHARMA/Others/Hanso/Oceanic and then Widmore (the Economist?)/possibly Paik Industries/Abaddon/Freighter

This would further help to explain why Hanso bought out Oceanic, i.e.- they would want to have complete control over all the info about 815 and be able to do any damage control/cover-up that needed to be done and keep everything away from Widmore...so in a circular way, the Others are now intrinsically linked to Oceanic via Hanso/DHARMA and I guess we'll get to see if there was a pre-existing relationship there

Mikhail to obtain the information. He is a criminal mastermind, even in the
real world, but he had nothing to with was on that flight especially since
he didn't know it would crash. The others didn't even know about the
Swan Station, otherwise Kelvin Inman would have been killed too.

The reason you see that symbol on Harper's desk is because Harper
was former employee to Oceanic, aswell as the Hanso Foundation.

But after the crash, Ben could have gone back in time and caused the plane to be loaded with the right people that he could use to his own ends. Similarly, he could have done the same thing to put his man on the boat. I find it very hard to believe that Ben had no idea about Kelvin, Desmond, or the Swan station. The Swan had security cameras in it for observation. With as long as Ben's been on that Island, he had to have known. The same goes for Rousseau.

And I seriously doubt that Ben is traveling back in time to put people on Oceanic 815 so Desmond can crash them down on the island. I think this whole time travel thing is getting taken way out of proportion. I wouldn't even call it time travel. It's probably more along the line of "your life flashing before your eyes", or something along those lines.

this would be impossible based on what we've seen on the show...for one thing, only the consciousness of a person can travel, not their being... and secondly, it affects everyone differently so perhaps ben doesn't feel much of an effect at all going to and from the island... as they allude to in The Constant it is much closer to the concept of becoming unstuck in time like in Slaughterhouse 5 than it is to getting into a DeLorean and flying to the past or future... and since the effects seem to be so random and dangerous it wouldn't be plausible for someone to try and use that to a significant advantage...with everyone we've seen so far that is afflicted by it, it is a severe handicap or death sentence...

I see your point, but still. With everything that was in the Flame station, like maps and manuals, tell me they didn't know someone was in the Swan inputting numbers into a computer every 108 minutes. If Kelvin can get out enough to map the different stations on the island, and even map the Flame, someone had to have known about it.

So why would Hanso have anything to do with the Others? after what Ben and the Hostiles did to Dharma a group which he finacialy backed for yrs. Which means he agreed with their views and study. Then again he did back out of being their finacial backer as well. Which means he cut all ties off with them to side with Perhaps the Hostiles or there outside labtory Mittelos (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Mittelos).

oh i just meant that the lineage followed along that connected Hanso to the Others because some were DHARMA and now on the other end Hanso owns Oceanic...not that the whole linkup was there the whole time, obviously there's been an evolution in the relationships, but at least you can connect the dots on that side... i was mostly speaking to the fact that i've seen people talking about Widmore owning Hanso or other things that just don't jive with his inability to reach the island quickly and without laboriously searching for it

You notice with the stewardess that she wasnt on the list because in the other women Juliet says why cant Goodwin come back we have everyone thats on the list. Goodwin dies then they take the stewardess. I think she might have been another spy for Ben and the others. She wasnt on the list and she just disapeared in secounds rite when they were next to the main losties camp.

She has a certificate from the Hanso Foundation on her wall. I guess it doesn't necessarily mean she worked for them but she was affiliated in some way. As for the stationary, while I agree that the circle looks similar to the Oceanic "O"- it's not their logo- perhaps just something the writers stuck in there.

well hanso funded DHARMA so she could have possibly been a DHARMA original that Ben spared... or it was still in the office/house that she moved into... all the houses and whatnot were built by DHARMA so it's not a stretch to find Hanso materials lying about
