Hello All!

Posted to let everyone know the Dragon*Con "Salute II History" parade group is officially up and running! "Salute II History" is a group dedicated to the portrayal of world culture between the years of 1939-45. Members pay their tribute to "The Greatest Generation" in the annual Dragon*Con Parade. The WWII era played a huge role not only in the development of our society but popular culture as well, with strong influences on science fiction, novels, comic books, television, video games and cinema – all fitting amongst the Dragon*Con crowd.

The original intention for the section was to be WWII oriented but the parade section bears the broad title of "Salute II History". This vague title is so that participants won't feel obligated to only portray military personnel. Whatever may help set the mood of our group's target time period (1939-45) should be encouraged and not overlooked. It’s time to break out the soldiers, sailors, marines, nurses, swing dancers, ball players, USO workers, air raid wardens, zoot suiters, factory workers, scrap drive kids, and pinup girls for another memorable display. If you're interested in participating, gather your gear and report to the Dragon*Con Salute II History Yahoo Group.

Anyone interested in learning more is invited to visit the Yahoo group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dragoncon_salutetohistory/

See you all there!

Andrew
