View Full Version : I'm Lost Without LOST ~ What are you doing to feel better??

So many people have said that they feel so lost now without our fabulous show to watch anymore and I was wondering what everyone else has been doing to feel better or just not so lost (hahaha ... pun intended)

Personally, I have finished watching four seasons of a great show called Dexter and am now caught up and ready for the new season to begin in September. I have also finished watching this season of Doctor Who, one of the best seasons ever I might add, and can't wait for Santa to bring Matthew Smith back to me for Christmas :D

But, I still am not ready for a rewatch of LOST yet ... if ever ... :o

So, what are you all doing or watching to make it all better?

Everyone here seems to be watching Persons Unknown. It's not as good as Lost, but it's something. It has it's own section here, and it has it's own website as well where you can watch all the current episodes.

There's also The Mentalist. More of a casual show, but still fun to watch. It's about this cop who solves crimes in pretty strange ways. Some almost as manipulative as Ben's ways of doing things, or even more so. There also seems to have been a lot of actors from Lost on the show as well: Juliet's ex husband in the very first episode, George Minkowski as a computer geek in another, Goodwin as a rich jack***, etc. Even Jacob played a part as a biker, and he got his *** beat by his fellow gangmembers.

I'm watching Person's Unknown, not a bad show. The mystery is interesting. And the characters are pretty good so far.

I watch the Mentalist too. I adore Simon Baker!
It's reruns right now until Fall. It's a pretty good show for not being LOST. The mysteries don't run as deep for sure.
Lost seems to have given quite a few actors a boost in their careers!

OMG!!! Simon Baker and Josh Holloway on the same page!!!!:D:D

I'm catching up on season 4 of dexter and i've actually been listening to Lost music a lot lately. I've just come to terms that I will not get over the show for a while, but i'm content with that :D I think I just have a hard time really enjoying persons unknown right now because it feels like it feeds off of a lot of ideas from Lost.

DP, there are a bunch of us into Dexter. Wouldn't it be great to have a Dexter forum here? HINT, HINT Maurice ... :D

You are gonna love, love, love season 4!!! I will not say another word

That's pretty awesome Matty. Have you checked out Dune yet? I have this on my list but it's iMax and I have to travel pretty far for a theater that plays those.

Really, if you have not seen BSG it's time you did.. it's not star trek that's for sure... I don't usually go in for major SCI FI, but a friend recommended it, after much arm twisting I watched the Pilot/mini series and have just started the final season... you know just how critical I am off stuff so I don't recommend lightly...but this is great..

I'm not sure what that Dune trailer is for... a film? animated Imax short?...I've seen the original movie years ago..never really liked it..

I have seen some BSG but the vid you posted looks intense and nothing like what I've seen at all. I will definitely have to check it out, thanks! I am a major sci-fi geek .... can't help myself.

You didn't like the original Dune? I loved both the book and the movie. I found that 2010 trailer online and it looks awesome to me. It appears to be the same opening scene as in the original but animated. I've been looking for more trailers for it but haven't found any yet. All I know is it's iMax and came out early this year I think.

That sucks, I got excited when I saw the video.

I know of the standard theatrical version and remember a Laserdisk coming out years ago with a cut of about 4 hours...Dunno I'll have to look into it.

All I really remember about the movie is that it was very, very long ... but I loved every minute of it. I must have seen the standard cut of the movie I guess. The book was absolutely fabulous, too. :)

I've been forty days and forty nights
In television land
I'd kill myself with cigarettes
If I could find my hands

Livin' in a ghost town

Take this will and testament
And nail it to the wall
You know I spent my time here
Learning how to crawl

Livin' in a ghost town

And money don't buy water round
The ghost town
I've never found a border round
The ghost town
Whoever sets the weather
Oughta keep it pretty calm
Keep it fine and mild
Cause like a cheap alarm
I'm f****n' wound

There's just a man on a bad street
Who cannot turn around
Or shout above the heat
Below the knees he's
Buried in the ground
Waking up in Sydney babylon
Is what it's all about
There's only one way in here
And one way out

Definitely one of the best/underrated shows to come along in the past few years. I think the continuation of that humor train was directed towards It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Im guessing most of the people on the forum have at least heard of it... if not, check it out on Hulu.

I did a Lost rewatch the last 5 weeks, and I have come to one solid conclusion.... The ending of Lost was necessary to ensure the colossal mystery that continually transpired from moment to moment throughout the series. Had we been given answers, a tremendous disappointment would have eaten us alive years down the road, much like Jack, desperate to go back in hopes of finding himself. The overarching theme would have been ruined by choosing the concrete over the uncertain; and as much as people hate to admit that fact, its truth.... pure truth. We will never know about the four-toed statue, why Walt killed a bird with his mind, or a myriad of other nonsense. The point is this:

"Lost was a show that attempted to blur the line between faith and empirical science. It begged the audience to let go and get taken on a journey, just as much as the characters themselves. The producers challenged us to abandon conventional thinking and enter the realm of Lost; for that, I am eternally grateful."

Cheers,
John Locke

I will check out Always Sunny in Philly, I've not heard of that before but if it has humor like Arrested Development, I am SO on board.

Nice synopsis of the LOST unanswered mysteries also. I like the quote you used. It was a journey indeed!

Elders... meaning: Have been around a lot longer than I have, and should be treated as such. Im sure not everyone has warranted such respect, but I'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Would the better term be, "Tenured"?
