What plague are they talking about?

I can keep up with anyone on the topic of lost,but when they told us the hospital Jack and his dad worked at was a protector of the plague I was shocked.We have no serios plagues as of right now in the U.S ,so did they bring one back or did that exist on the island and someone else(the freighter)find it and let it loose on us?Thanks if you can help.

I missed that plague mentioning. Can you tell me what episode that was in? I would think its the plague related to the Hanso virus and the island/Dharma.

They meant that the Saint, St. Shebastian, the Saint the hospital was named after, was the "protector from plagues.

Like St. Francis is the protector of animals.
