This is way out there but I guess nothing can be ruled out.
I contend that Cindy the stewardess slipped away from the Tailies on her own. The others took 12 people they wanted the first 2 nights and she was not one of them.
Could it be that she and the pilot were in on some plan to take the plane to the island but when Desmond failed to enter the code that day it ended up destroying the plane, which was not part of the plan?
The only reason we think the plane lost contact after 6 hours and turned back is because the pilot says so. Some have speculated that the plane is really in the INdian Ocean. Maybe the pilot set out to the island off the bat and just lied about the rest to cover.
