The man who parachuted down (according to T.V guide article) is named "Faraday" whether or not he is the same George who was on the radio with Naomi I'm not sure.When he spoke to Jack at the end of episode 1 he never said his name,first or last.

Jack and Naomi both talk to George McGowski, I thought it was Cavenogh cause I read that on another post. After going back to the scenes he says his name is McGowski. And your right that the parachuter doesn't say his name, he also does not sound like the guy from the phone... woops.

Actually, his name is George Minkowski.
The parachuter is named Daniel Faraday.

Yeah I think u guys were getting George and Georiga mixed up Georgia Cavanaugh is that chick from the Oceanic phone # thing. That george dude is one of the guys from the freighter.
