My theory

The island was discovered by Ben,he went there ill and discovered the island heals.He then told others and sent for them(all being ill)and they got healthy and decided to stay.The smoke and the beasts are man made by Ben to scare people away,to stop them being discovered if anybody ever found the island.
The plane did crash as we know,how i dont know maybe it was a proper crash and they just happend to survive.....it does happen?
The only downfall was the pregnancy thing and thats why Julia was sent for.
The rich guy has found out about this island and wants it for himself.He has somehow found out about the survivors and does not want the secret of the island found out so he has sent the people on the boat to kill them and has staged the crash under the sea.(as we all know).
Theres gaps in my teory obviously lol but I think when it comes to leaving only a few choose to with the rest staying put.
Ben wants to keep the island and thats why hes playing all the games,hes a gredy sod aswell lol.

Well maybe they discovered the island ad Ben worked for them,killed them all and took it as his own lol told youi ts got holes :D

Ben went there as a little boy with his father because his father got a job with the DI. Ben wasn't sick at all. He had no choice about going to or getting off the island.

The smoke and the beasts aren't made by Ben... I think that the smoke is like all bad things, bad emotions .... :)
