i am officially scraping a black mist theory

rewatching exodus part 2 has reminded me that the mist seems to come from under the ground so i am not so sure that its jacob who is the mist anymore.

and i am still mystified as to why we hear mechanical sounds when its about.

also - not entirely related but why does season 1 have a lot of stomping noises and jurassic park trex - esque sounds in it as we dont really get any of that in the other seasons.

I think smoky might be a type of security system the Others can let off (maybe) but there are still a lot of unexplained things that confuse me.

As far as the Jurassic park noises, I think they did those in the beginning of Lost since they didn't really know at first where the show was going to go. Could just be a red herring type thing, but who knows...maybe the noises have to do with smoky?

Rousseau calls it the islands security system... and maybe someone else does too.

Juliet does not know of the mechanical black mist creature when she and Kate are running. Could she have been lying? Yes. DO I think she was? No. She seemed to not know anything about it... given that the others were always in the protective barracks surrounded by the sonic shield.

I see it as being linked to the island definitely, posibly with Jacob as well since he is linked to the island. It appears to be some advanced technology, a holographic projection to mask its mechanic underpinnings. Or a fake sound to make it seem mechanical when its nothing like that.

I remember one episode where there is a pan from the left, to the back going towards the right side of this security system with Locke or Jack in front of it. We can see right through this thing. So I don't really think it is very mechanical other than the noises it makes. It seems etheral or something but can take physical form to crab things like trees and people.

Actualy Juliet told Kate they did know about Smokie the whole time. But she claimed they didn't know what it was. Just that it didn't like the sonic Fence.

I got that Smokie was mecahnaical. But like you. Iv seen other wise. What machine is transparant? yes a cloacking device could very well make it like that sorta like in predator or a Kleaon Bird of prey. Then why the smokey appearnce? Is that just part of the cloacking technology it has? We also know it can obtain memories from people that is a fact and seems evedent that it can morph into images as well since it was funny that Smokie was around the whole time Eko was expirancing Yemi and all his past sins. Though it's not confirmed or proven yet that it wa sindeed Smokie.

Im not to sure how to link Smokie. I don't know if he's a product of Dharma or an enity far beyound our world. So much of Smokie lyie in questioning.
