I looked at the scene where everyone thinks that it was Locke's eye that peered through the door. I think it was Roger. Could he be Jacob?

We all saw Roger die so I really don't think it would have been him. Not only did we see him die in the van but Hurley, Sawyer and Jin found the van Roger died in and his body was in there. Sure people can say maybe its not him but Roger started bleeding from his nose before wrecking the van so I'm pretty sure he is in fact dead.

We've also seen Charile back from the supposedly dead too. The leader of the "Others" I forget his name also hasn't aged since meeting Ben as a boy either. Whats up with that?

When I first saw the close up I thought it looked like Jack but that couldn't be he was with the group.

The eye person does not have to be living, or on the island. Walt has shown up when it wasn't Walt, others the same thing. Christian is dead... so by that position of not allowing dead people to represent the eye, I could say Christian is not in the chair since he is dead, but we know that it was Christian. So the eye could be a dead person as much as a living one. Given the houses ability to disappear, as it would seem it can if it is actually there and not Hurley's imagination, then I would find it hard for someone alive to be following it around as it moves through space without actually moving in three dimensional space.

Also the point of the ash around the cabin from Locke/Ben visit would indicate some form of barrier to keep things out or keep things in... this could mean Hurley saw a projection of Jacob or the islands choosing, as the projections of Walt and others occur, this time in the form of the cabin.
