this is just my guess but what if the attack on the other's camp is put on by the puppetmaster (ben) to get the losties to befriend him. How would the attackers get inside the perimeter without the code?

Did you happen to notice that Alex not only put the code into the
security System...but she put in a "secret" distress code, knowing that Ben would get it and hopefully help her? ...(By the way...totally brilliant!)
Oh yeah, and then the Captain/Marine then shot her in the head in cold blood.
Did you see the look on Ben's face when that happened? I'll go out on a limb here and say....Not only do I NOT think that Ben was working with the Captain and crew before...but I'm pretty sure he's NOT working with them now.
Oh yeah, and I'm also willing to bet dollars to donuts that before the end of this season...Ben's gonna kill that Captin Man DEAD! ....and he's STILL gonna go after Penny when it's all said and done.

I hope he doesn't actually go after Penny except to scare her father, but regardless, ... NO ONE OUTSMARTS BEN ;)
