I don't agree though that it could be compared to dumping her. I don't think he was doing that. I just think he was telling her that he does what he does and she can do what she does, just like it has always been between them

I agree he didn't seem to be dumping her he seems to be protecting himself,I think he really loves her but may assume she wants Jack and doesn't want to look weak by telling her how he really feels.

Sawyer and the DOC never really saw eye to eye, plus he is starting to become friends with Hurley and his concience is telling him to go where Hurley said Charlie would want them to go. I think Sawyer cares more about the 815's than we think.

Yeah Sawyer is a good guy now. I didn't like his selfishness and all taht in previous seasons, but in S3 he got better, and now since killing that crappy Sawyer loser, he is on a better path. Go Sawyer!

Yah I think Sawyer was able to finally put all his revenge and vengeance behind him and thats what had taken over his life for so long and why he was so angry. I think he was touched by what Hurley said about Charlie and I also think Locke and Sawyer came to a mutual understanding after Sawyer killed his father and Locke warned Sawyer that Juliette was a traitor. He probably trusts Locke more than Jack at this point.

Personally I think the whole "Sawyer" persona is gone from him now. I think we should start calling him James. When kate called him sawyer he got pissed. After killing the real Sawyer, Ford freed himself, and I believe he finished what he came to do on this island.

Yah he even called Kate "Kate" instead of Freckles. She goes, "you never call me kate!"...how sad, I'll miss the old Sawyer :( But I'm glad he was able to free himself!

i still think that the minute Kate mentioned possibly being pregnant .....he distanced himself more...he is scared to death of loving someone because of the hurt he has had in his life and i think that he is scared of failure....and that he will not be good enough to be a dad....thats why he and kate are perfect for eachother....she is the same in many ways...

Good insights into the characters personalities.

I would have to differ by saying Kate would not be perfect for James Ford. She was attracted to him because he was/is an outlaw like her, among other things :) But as you say, his mind set is not that of a stable boyfriend/husband. James still need to mature. Let's face it, every women he's been with, he has conned... so he has to work on himself at this point... maybe later he can accept Kate.
