How did Karl get to the island?

We know how Alex came to the island. Karl is the only other teenager we have seen on the island. If children cant be conceived on the island, he had to be brought by someone. Ben seems to only have people that are usefull to his cause be recruted to the island. Did Karl come with his mom and dad, or was he brought for another pupose?

this is one of the mysteries i would like to know the answer too. either he was brought to the island for one reason or another or he is like richard alpert and has been on the island for a very long time and has not aged.

however, he does still act like a teenager so it would suggest that it is not the latter! unless the non aging is more than just physical.

First Congrats on your senior membership! I never thought Alex was that pretty, but maybe it wont take her that long to get back on feet after losing her boyfriend and you can have her in no time at all!

I think Rou was pregnate before she was deserted on the island. If you get pregnate off the island you seem to be ok, like Claire. I think Ben would have a stronger connection with Karl if he was his father. Plus I just cant see anyone sleeping with Ben. I never thought that Karl may be a nother Richard. Thats an interesting thought. I wanna think that Ben needed Karl for something. Maybe he was looking for a young teenage boy to test his brainwashing machine on??

Yeah you'd think they'd have given some hint as to where he came from if they were gonna kill him! Maybe they'll explain it some other way later on in the show in some big pregnant women episode :)

After I wrote the Ben and Karl thing, I thought it was silly. I just like to think as far outside of the box as I can sometimes. Another crazy one I had was that Rou had twins, Karl and Alex. How gross would that be. Maybe Karl is Tom's son. Who knows?

I always thought she was good looking, but a few episodes into the 4th season, she looked way better than before. Maybe she took care of those eyebrows :)

Karl can't have any relationship to Ben otherwise I think Ben would have treated him much differently. I'd say Karl came to the island the same way Ben did - he came over with one or both parents.

LOL...The image of Rousseau and Ben hooking up is scary at best. But I think we all agree that Ben raised Alex after she was taken from Rousseau.

One of the scariest things I believe Ben ever said was that Juliet "belonged" to him. I suspect Ben feels the same way about Alex and that's what earned Goodwin and Karl similar fates.

In reality, the actor playing Karl was contracted to play Broadway, so his character was snuffed. We may never see him again to, perhaps, better explain his origins. But I believe he came to the island with his parent or parents recruited by Dharma sometime prior to the purge.

How did this come about?

The timing just sort of worked out. I booked this Broadway show, Spring Awakening, that was going to take me away for at least six months. We called Carlton and Damon and gave them the heads-up. They know the show that I'm doing, they're big fans of it, and they said that's an amazing opportunity, so they went back to the writers' room and brainstormed. And I think that this was actually an idea that they threw out there early on—that Karl would eventually bite the dust, and this was the right time.

Correct Dixon. Im still struggling with Karl's original myself. Someone suggested that he is the son of Ben and Anne (or Annie, I cant remember) and Im starting to support that. I also think there could be a more simple explanation such that Karl was brought there as a young child... in a similar fashion as Ben.

I dont know. I dont think he is Bens son. He had the poor kid beaten and brainwashed. He made him live in a cage. Of course this is Ben were talking about. I also dont think he was part of the Dharma group. For one he is to young to be part of the group, for two why would he get saved and not anyone else. I still think that Ben needed him for something. I noticed that BD brought up the possibility that he he's like Richard, and just doesn't get old. In 3.9-"Stranger in a Strange Land" He tells Sawyer that when he and Alex were KIDS they watched stars in her backyard. If Karl and Alex were KIDS at the same time, and we know Alex is'nt a true other, then neither is Karl, for they are growing at the same rate. He was definatily brought there.

well it is likely that if karl were sleaping with his daghter this would make him mad, I would not put it past him, but I have heard karl say he would never do anything to harm alex, and if he were afraid of getting her pregnant he wouldn't sleep with her. so I think karl and ben have some real alpha problems to work out.

Yeah, I just re watched that episode, so it seems Karl and Alex grew up together. Who knows? There are a bunch of "others" running around that haven't been introduced to us in any way. Perhaps he's related to one of them.

I definitely believe he was brought there at a young age.

you know, that actually makes sense, I am not opposed to the idea, but it is tough to tell, we know that there are only two choices, ether he was born there, or he was brought, but other then your idea, we don't see any reason why he would be brought there. I hope to see the truth in the near future.
