It seems strange that Danielle for 16 years stayed away from the others then all of a sudden she is talking to Ben? Is the Island that big to not have come in contact with them. Then there's the whole situation of her child. Does anyone think maybe she just like left her somewhere and the others found her and that is why Ben claimed her?

I think that if we ever get to see the much-rumored Danielle flashback, all these questions will be answered.

In sixteen years, she has never had allies vs the Others (as far as we know). With Sayid, Locke, Jack, etc. on the island, she finally has the courage to emerge from the jungle, so to speak.

My thoughts exactly, Mahalo. In the epsiode where Sayid, Locke and Kate go to The Flame, Danielle said she has avoided situations like that for 16 years. I think she would have been killed or hurt if she approached anyone. Also, she has been a little crazy for some time, and Im sure it is similar to a snowball effect of craziness.

Well then what do you think about Alex? Maybe they didn't kidnap her maybe Danielle was out of it for so long that she left her. Maybe she knew who the others were and thought they could do a bettter job than her. I am sure she watched them.

she has been trying to survive alone for 16 years and if that means keeping out of their way then so be it. as she keeps herself to herself, they were probably happy to leave her alone and also the fact that she is a blood relative to alex might be one reason ben was happy to keep her alive, should there be any medical problems with Alex etc....obviously now, she has become more of a threat to him than ever before.

Perhaps it was a similar situation to Claire's. The others or the Dharma people may have druged her and taken the baby. Or they found her and baby later on after the birth and druged her then.

Daniel is crazy, she shot her entire crew cause she thought that they were sick with something right? so I like the idea where she was out of it. then when she got her wits about her, for all she knew, SHE killed her kid, but she assumes it was the others, if she had talked to ben, alex would have known it I think, and thus, would know daniel.

Ive been thinking about that as well... but I think Ben knew about Danielle's trap and made the plan on his own. Danielle did not seem to care when he was about to be killed by John in the fourth season. She also told Jack not to trust him and not believe a word he said.

Who better to truly infiltrate the survivors than the mastermind himself. He thought he had a rock-solid back story with Henry Gail (or Gale) but it turned out to be full of holes. I would be very surprised if Danielle is working for Ben.

Danielle is not crazy, she did not kill the other people she was with who had the sickness, and she did not abandon her baby daughter, nor did she turn Alex over to Ben, thinking they'd give her a better life? (Did you all forget the slam in the face she gave him with her elbow?) The only common thread Danielle and Ben have is that they both love Alex.

Well, let's see... ok, we're not sure what "the sickness" was except that it has something to do with "the incident" that Dharma film lab coat guy spoke of... but she's been wanting Alex back for 16 yrs and claimed the Others took her baby. The Others have a habit of kidnapping children. I am thinking they wanted her baby (born on the island) for the same scientific reasons they are interested in ALL the babies/children. Maybe her team died directly or indirectly at the hands of The Others - they were the only others there...
By the way, yes, I CAN just say "this didn't happen" because Jacob gave me special powers...:p

You all have a good point, and I think that there is a good long story that has yet to be discovered, let's look at this, one of you braught up that ben got an elbow in the face yeah? it's very hard to tell what is going on, Danyel is ceaping seacrets that make her look guillty, but every one dose that, we should wait and see, this could go either way.

Everyone calm down with this, no-one has actual proof to back up their theries unless we get footage of it happening or not. But do you all seriously think someone would lie and say they killed people??? That'd be a stupid thing to do, unless you pride yourself on killing, or some other really good reason.

Danielle, in my opinion, was/is a good person. She did'nt just MAKE UP the sickness, because somehow world of it got to Kelvin (even though he was lying about it, they both somehow heard of it). The "it killed them all" from her message ment the SICKNESS was "it".

And it's been brought up that Ben shouldn't have been caught in the net, or Danielle should have known about the shooting. People do make mistakes guys! How many times during Danielle's 16 years on the island has she actually been under fire before? NONE. She had no experience with that, it never happened to her before, so she didn't know what to do. And Ben's a coward, what with the sending Ethan and Goodwin to do his dirty work while he stayed in his nice house staring at Jueilet. It wasn't untill he needed to find Locke that he wen't over their by himself. That was probily the first time where Ben was in the part of the island alone, thus the first time he was ever in danger of anykind of trap. THAT suggests that he had no idea how to avoid traps, for he was never a part of the "Other" group that actually went outside their "Sonic-Weapon fence". That was the job of Tom, Pickett, Aldo, Alex, and other others that actually do the fighting, not the mental genius.

I guess the answer to the orignal question is later left for later or never.

Nintendo... thank you thank you. Finally, we can put this to rest. The story is in desperate need of more information, but until then, the facts are very straight forward. I appreciate your solid reasoning.
