help with 2 questions

I'm looking for help with 2 nagging questions.
#1....By the end of season 3 Charlie had become the "junior swim champion of northern england" and that contributed to his death. But, back in season 1 when poor Joanna was drowning he clearly told Jack " I don't swim.....I don't swim" Did the writers forget that we don't forget anything or, did they just change the deal ????
#2 Has anyone else ever wondered what happened to the character "Sullivan", the survivor with the spreading rash in "Solitary" back in sseason 1 ???. He was played by Scott Paulin and given a name in the credits. In that same episode Rousseau told Sayid about the sickness that wiped out her team and warned him to "watch your people closely". Did the "LOST" team just drop that storyline or will it play some role in the future ??

1-My personal feeling is that Charlie DID know how to swim as we obviously saw and even in his flashback where Charlie is learning to swim you hear someone in the background say "c'mon desmond!" so they introduce a small connection between Charlie and Desmond even as children. I think Charlie was lying to Jack about not being able to swim, I just don't understand why? I'd have to go back and watch it.

2-I think the character Sullivan was kind of just written out of the show just as Paolo and the other girl were because they didn't hold much purpose and were kind of "boring" to the show. I think when the show began the writer's had NO idea as to which directions they were going to go with the show so they just kind of went with it. Perhaps they thought they could go somewhere with the rash and the virus that was going on but I don't think they ever did....up until this point anyway. I have a feeling a virus will come into play at some point but I don't think Sullivan's rash will have any importance. I could be wrong but thats just what I think :) Very good point though, it makes me want to go back and start watching Lost from the beginning again!

I think Charlie was lying to Jack when he said he was swimming champion just so Jack would allow him to go...He tells Jack he can hold his breath for four minutes but when Desmond asks him how long he can really hold his breath for he just responds,"Does it really matter"... on top of that Charlie obviously couldn't hold his breath that long because he seemed to be gasping for air in the short time it took to get under the station

ya i think charlie was lying about the swim champion or what ever, as for the other story line i dont remember so i will have to go back and watch for it.

I DONT THINK THAT CHARLIE WAS A JR SWIM CHAMP...HE WAS A JR HEROIN ADDICT....AND WOULD DO ANYTHING 2 SAVE CLAIRE AND AARONS BABY....I ALSO THINK THAT CHARLIE WILL HAVE A BIGGER IMPACT DEAD ON THE ISLAND THIS SEASON. THEY DEFINATLY NEED 2 GET BACK 2 SOME THINGS THAT LED UP 2 THE CRASH ......BEFORE THE LOSTIES GOT THERE.....ITS THE UNKNOWN, :confused:

He also had a weighted belt and a rope to help him get down faster. I think he really has some water issues, but told Jack he was a swim champ in order to avoid Jack telling him he cannot go.He knew he had to do it no matter what.

im not a swimming expert but i think that swimming the way charlie claimed he was good at is top water fast (with a breath when ever you want for the most part) but what he had to do is swim deep down, a different type of swimming style. but i still believe he lied to let jack let him go

Did we ever find out what happened to Charlie's ring he left behind. He put it in Aaron's crib but we haven't heard anything of it since?

If I am thinking of the same rash guy, I thought that was just to illustrate that Jack was getting exhausted from helping everyone and this guy was an annoying hypochondriac who was wearing Jack down. Later Kate gives him a sedative because he is a raving sleep deprived lunatic. So if you recall this, it is not as weird to see him break down in teh future. I think his wife left him partially because he was obsessed with his work etc

IIRC, Aaron developed the rash after being injected with a "vaccine".

Don't think we have gotten that far yet, they had just got back to the beach when teh last episode ended, so I don't think Claire has even put Aaron in his crib or has been back to her tent yet.

I think charley did lie to jack too he knew he was the one to save everyone or at least try. the only thing I just can't get out of my head is y just y did they kill him off he could have just as easiely of gotten away with desmond before the whole station flooded in stead of drowing. As for the rash guy Im not sure. Maybe it will play out later on in the next few years then again maybee he was just wrote off the show because it was not insterting enough.

I can't swim. Like, I could drown in a hot tub kind of I can't swim. There is no way that as a non-swimmer I would volunteer for the mission. I can't hold my breath underwater for more than 10 seconds before I freak out and I sure as hell can't open my eyes under water. Charlie had to have known how to swim to go on that mission. Period.

As for Character introduction, I agree that Sullivan was as insignificant as Nikki and Paulo. What is not insignificant about Nikki and Paulo's story line is the spiders. Dude-what a freaking weapon to use against anyone!? Spiders that render you practically dead for up to 8 hours? are you serious??? That was the point of Nikki and Paulo.
