Just a passing thought but there seems to be a theme running about storms
1) The electrical storms that frequently appear on the island
2) Miles Straum (Malestrom)
3) The Tempest station
Nothing very profound, just occured to me there and I found it curious :)

went out on a limb here and looked up malestrom on dictionary.com (first I had to see what it meant) but it took me to the encyclopedia where I looked up Maelstrom (whirlpool) but it referenced a series entitled The Edge Chronicles... check it out. Something about a floating island in the air.. maybe they took this and put it under water? This all ties back to HLS comment? Just a thought.

Maybe it's all those tins of out-of-date Dharma Initiative beans they've been forced to subsist on ;)

Excellent observation Hurley. Ive been rewatching the series from the beginning and I will most definately look out for your thoughts about storms. Also keep in mind that Locke is completely in tune with the Island's rain cycle... perhaps this is of interest.

A legend exists about Riverrise, a place at the end of the Deepwoods with water that has healing properties. A quote from that site.
I said many moons ago that the water on the Island has to be special:)

Fanks very much, JJ.
Yes right, Locke's connection with the rain is another one.
Just one more piece of one of the island's various secrets. I can't wait to see how they all tie-in with each other.
Let us know if you notice anything else during your re-watch.

Cool, I like the trinity. Although "random" is possibly inaccurate.
I studied something in college about natural occurences in 3s.
water~liquid, solid, gas
trees~ sap, pulp, bark
bone~marrow, cartilage, ???bone (i forgot)
man~spirit, soul, body
God~Father, Son, HolyGhost
Another Lost connection that has interested me is Kelvin Joe Inman.
Lostpedia:
Before Kelvin arrived on the Island he was involved with the U.S. military in the Gulf War. During the war, he was connected with Sam Austen, Kate's stepfather, and manipulated Sayid, forcing him to act as a translator and torture Iraqi prisoners for information.

Wasn't Inman a high ranking Black ops officer? It's interesting to think"how does one go from the GUlf War in Iraq to pushing the button in the Hatch...

I believe he said that he hated who he had become for hurting so many people and was reading the paper one day only to find an ad the said "Do you want to save the world?"
Perhaps he felt it was his redemption.

I wonder how many people responded to the newspaper ad? Did he turn in a resume? Wouldn't it be a strenuous interview process? Did a military background help?
A job like that shouldn't go to any teen with a HS diploma.
