The other Island, with the Hydra station, is basically a worn down DHARMA station used for scientific testing.

Remember in Expose, when Juliet and Ben were in the Pearl, Juliet said that place gives her the creeps? i think in general, considering what happened to the DHARMA workers, its like the others are entering a sort of Ghost Town. Just look at the Hydra compared to the Others Village. The Village is pristine, well maintained, clean, like an ideal community. That is where the Others prefer to be, but with the Lostees arriving, it messed with their lives and they had to go back to those stations.

I really dont know what the Others "do" yet, i mean, we really dont know anything. We know what DHARMA did, kinda, but the Others have their own agenda which is still unknown at the moment. We knew they were building a runway on the other island, so that shows they had future plans, but im sure there is much more to that story then we are aware of yet.

Perhaps they hate going to that island for a completely unknown reason, maybe something else happened there that we will learn off in the future...

Scientist Death Match: The Others vs. the DHARMA Initiative

The Others appear to use and possibly live in DHARMA Initiative facilities. Sometimes they look like doctors, and sometimes they look like mud-streaked hillbillies. Whether they're both or neither, they may be the subjects of DHARMA Initiative experiments rather than researchers. Or, they may have been experimental subjects who rebelled against the researchers.

Being the subjects of experiments could explain the Others' apparent cunning and stealth. Whether or not they are part of the DHARMA Initiative, they probably have a reason for abducting people from the island. It's possible that:

* The vaccine has made them sterile
* They hope to ransom their victims
* They really believe that the people they kidnap are better off with them
* They need specific genetic material for experiments
* They're just mean---LOL
