Well, well, well. Take a look at what I found. I don't have the ability to take screens myself (unless I just want to use my camera phone), but if you have ready access to Season 3 DVDs, please PLEASE check this out.

Ok, here's the eye as seen by Hurley in the cabin (the one that pops up at him through the window frame):

http://bp3.blogger.com/_8HhjIy50yEY/R6KaJaLiPBI/AAAAAAAAAP8/svTeZ1h0Epk/s1600-h/the.eye.png

NOW. Here's the important part. Go back to the Season 3 episode, "The Man Behind the Curtain". This is the one where Ben takes Locke to see Jacob. Pause your video at 32:00 and go frame by frame. There is an eye - that is in practically the EXACT SAME POSITION as the above link. You know what, screw this, I am gonna use my camera phone. I'll post that pic in my next post. It is the same eye. There is no chance it isn't.

Which leaves us with 2 options for the owner of that eye. It is either Locke or Jacob. And I think it's Jacob and here's why:

At that moment in the scene (32:00), it's when Jacob causes various objects in the room to fly everywhere, and right after he throws Ben against the wall. Ben then looks to his right - toward Locke. The next shot is of the EYE and it is turning to its left - toward Locke. The next shot is Locke staring straight at Jacob's position [in the chair]. This series of events leaves me with no choice but to think it is Jacob's eye.

Which is great - it makes total sense now. Look at my next post in a few minutes, I'll take a camera phone shot of the Eye on my DVD.

Note: In case you missed it, the link in this post is from Season 4, Episode 1, "The Beginning of the End". The link in the next post will be from Season 3, Episode 20, "The Man Behind the Curtain". They will look very similar - but I assure you they are from different episodes.

I first have to say... you cold be right. But I have to play a devil's advocate for now.

If you look at the eye in S3 and compare it to S4, you will notice the eyebrow does not look the same. Now this can be attributed to the angle of the camera in relation to the eye to explain why it look different, and also the lighting. But if you look at the eyebrow, doesn't the S4 eye look like it has a thicker eyebrow? Also, there is space between the eyebrow and the eye in the S4 shot, and there is little to no space between the eye and the eyebrow in the S3 shot.

If you look at Ben's face prior to the eye showing up, he is facing Locke. And when the face of the eye shows up, the eye goes from looking towards the left of the screen towards the right and stops in the middle of the screen. This could be of Ben, turning his vision from Locke back towards the chair with Jacob. Also Ben's face prior to the close up of the eye was that of shock, awe, which can be ascribed to the eye. And the light is on Ben's left side of the face, camera right side.

Also, if you look at Ben's eyebrows when he is in the cabin, he has thin eyebrows, very little hair there.

Another part of the eye shot in S3, is the red veins in the eye, on the right side camera view, left part of the persons eye. There a view of Ben's eye previous to this where I sort of make out a bit of redness in his left eye, on the left part. I could be mistaken, we don't really get a close up, but it looks like there is a bit of red, not just pure white.

Now. All of those comparisons can be false. I could be wrong. But one final thing to note, is the man in the chair. If you look at his right side, being the mans left side, it is in the shadow. His face is in the shadow. So if his face were to turn from left to right with the eye open, there would be no light to see it. So it could be him if the Lost crew screwed up on this part.

I choose to believe it is not Jacobs eye, not the Jacob of the chair. I think it is Ben's eye turning from Locke to the chair. Ben's left side was lit up. So he appears to fit for the eye given all circumstances.

Iv always thought the set of eyes seen in Man behind the curtien where of Ben's and not of Jacob's. It just always looked like Ben's. It to me was just a close up as to how freaked out Ben was at Jacob's actions in the room.

If you have the season 3 DVDs, then listen to the commentary on Man Behind The Curtain, its quite good.
Damon and Carlton plainly state that the eye shown in the scene in the cabin is Jacobs eye.
Theres no question after hearing the commentary that this eye is a way they will be representing Jacob and therefore has got to be the same eye that Hurley sees.

Good point! I'll have to go back and listen to the episodes with commentary, do all of them have that option? I never thought about doing that :)

There are not very many commentaries at all on the season 3 set. I think maybe four total, that was a big let down for me.
But the one for Man Behind the Curtain is really interesting.
It's Damon, Carlton, and Michael Emerson discussing the episode.

There, I resurrected the thread. Those are the two eyes - and I believe they ARE the same (although I wouldn't dare guess who they belong to).

Why thank you. Sorry I haven't been posting lately but I'm waiting for my friend from out of town to return my Season 3 DVD's so I can watch them all in a row and then do Season 4's. Then there'll be a frenzy!

I hear you! I've watched from season one to three twice already! I keep finding new things each time! It's amazing! Did you see my post about the pictures implanted in the black smoke when it met Eko face to face in season 2? What's your opinion?
