The wreckage of 815 was found in the Sunda Trench, which is in the Indian Ocean. The survivors think the plane went 2 hours off course. It very much could have though. But if you think about it, the plane still would have crashed in the south pacific. The ONLY way 815 could have ended up where it did is if the pilot was heading that way in the first place OR when they got off course and lost track of their bearing they were somehow transported to the Indian Ocean over the island just in time for desmond to not enter the numbers.

One thing you have to consider, when you are on a plane, there are no street signs in the air, the pilots fly by instruments and put their complete trust in them. The passengers dont even have instruments, they sit in a container and put their complete trust in the pilot to get them where they want to go.
That being said, its possible that someone tampered with the instruments to make the pilot believe he was going one way, when in reality, he was going in a completely seperate direction.
As for the wreckage being found so far away from where it should have theoretically been, i have a theory on that, but i could be way off. Since the plane was fully intact, it would imply the pilot took the plane down slowly onto the water as if landing, which would have done little to no damage. (ofcourse thats not the real plane, but just follow me here).
If the plane landed on the ocean intact, and slowly started to sink, it wouldnt necessarily sink like a rock. The plane was still aerodynamic, so if it went below the water slowly, it could have flown along the ocean currents to its final resting place. The water currents could have moved the plane under water as if it was flying in the air, and if the currents went in that direction, its possible it took it all the way to the Sunda Trench. If the plane broke up, the debris would have sunk faster and been spread out over a large distance...

So, if the pilot took the plane down slow, it would just be slower than flying, not actually slow. In which case I think that when the plane hit the water it would still break apart, the wings at least. I mean, if you flew a plane into the ocean, it would get f'd up. At least thats what I think.

can you land a plane on water? i am with pola - if it hit the water it would take damage of some kind.

dude, there is no way u can land a huge 747 or whatever jet it was in the ocean in 1 piece, I bet u that whatever is creating all of thost lifelike images on the island, is exactly the same thing that is creating the image of the plane and the bodies. Think about this, the only evidence is of a spybot 4 miles under the ocean surface, its gotta be an image created by the island. That plane just broke apart in mid-air with out touching anything, what makes u so sure it can hit the water at 40mph at the absolute lowest, and not have hardly and damage. Dude people die jumping out of the 4th floor into a pool, its like concrete at certain speeds.

i think the plane split up do to the magnetic field, i mean the sunda trench is known for being as bad as the bermuda triangle

I can totaly see the pilot going there on purpose - as I have said before, the only reason they think they know where they are is from his words in S!.
But could Desmond be that far from where he thought he should be? I cannot really remember if he gave any details that would clear this up

This is an insterting theroy but i don't think there would be any way to land a plane on the water with out it comming apart.

And I find it interesting that Libby (suspected to be associated with Dharma somehow) is the one who gave Desmond the boat to sail around the world which ultimately crashed on the island. We also know that the freighter people somehow know about Desmond but yet Penny doesn't know them....maybe the freighter people use to be associated with Libby somehow which is how they would know about Desmond???

It IS very wierd that the plane in the water is completely intact. It HAS to be fake somehow, whether is was planted somehow or the island made it. BUT the thing that concerns me more than the intactness of the bird is the fact that it is the sunda trench WAY FAR AWAY from where it supposedly should have crashed.

This is kind of random haha but made me think of it after navyguy referred to the plane as a "bird"....you know how Walt has been making random birds just drop dead like when he was in his mom's apartment and on the island? Well what if he was the one that made the plane crash?? Just a random idea :p

I would say if it is fake it would have to be the island. Why would the airline or anyone else plant a fake plane way off course. It would just make the families and media ask more questions. They would be better off leaving it alone and the plane never to be found.

LOL yea thats a good point. I'm used to using the term "bird". I am an airdale in the navy. not a pilot, i just fix 'em

Forgive me for this, but we KNOW WHERE THE PLANE IS??? Are you serious? How did I miss this? Where is the info? Is it on flight815. com? Dammit I still haven't had time to get there.
I am slacking big time.
What I think is who cares how the plane landed. Why is someone doing such a coverup?

Yea, i am more concerned about the location. We are north of Australia instead of East of it. Have you the location is close to the origin, but given flight time before the route change they would be in the south pacific in the polynesian islands and not between indonesia and australia. They must have took off heading north instead of east from the beginning. and yes you find out on find815.com
