The Purge

Does anybody know or have theories on when exactly was the purge? I for one can't pinpoint it.
Here are some facts:
1) Danielle Rousseau claims to have arrived to the island in 1988, 7 months pregnant with Alex, Alex was abducted (by the others presumably) 3 days after she was born.
2) Kelvin Inman (the guy in the hatch before Desmond) couldn't have arrived on the island no earlier than 1992 because he was in the Gulf War with Sayid And Kates stepfather/father..
But we don't know when he arrived after 92.
So if the Purge happened before before 92, how/who could have recruited Kelvin into Dharma if they were all dead.
3) Mikhail (eye patch guy) said he arrived at the island in 1993, and witnessed the purge.

It seems to me that the purge occured around 1993 or 1994. But I'm not sure.

Questions:
1) If the purge did occur in the early-mid 90's, then who cared for Alex as a baby? Ben was still with Dharma so he could't . Why would the others take her in the first place? And why not take Rousseau also?
2) How did Ben become "her Father"?
3) If the purge occurred after Kelvins arrival why was he spared? We know the others were aware of The Swan ( but not sure if they knew about the button), So they must have known about Kelvin all along. Was Kelvin even aware of the purge? Also, was he brought to the Island by the Others or DHARMA????
4) Did the Dharma people in the outside world know about the purge? If so why wasn't there some kind of retaliation from the Dharma people in the outside world?
5) Why are Dharma supplies still being dropped if they are all dead?

Ok, Thats enough.......When do you all think the Purge happened?

i am not sure the people in the barracks were aware of the hatches initially - hence why they may not have been affected by the purge. I am not even sure if the people in the hatches were aware of the people in the barracks tbh! he may have arrived shortly after the purge and that is why he used the vaccine and wears the suit at first - or even why they are available for him to wear.

mikhail says he came to the island in 1993 but that is part of the fake story he is telling sayid & kate so may also be a lie. i think he was there pre dharma and is like richard - hence his annoying inability to die!

but as for the whole alex thing - we dont know for sure but i would think that she was taken after the purge which would then suggest it was in the late 80s as opposed to the 90s but rousseau may be out by a year or 2 with her dates as she has been there a long time and is bound to get confused! not sure if there is anything to confirm that alex is definitely 16 years old?

1 + 2. I think the others, the hostiles, the indigenous people took Alex. Then when Ben became the new leader somehow, he took possession of her, so to speak.

3. I think only high level people knew of the Swan and other hatches. This was secret experiments it would seem, like classified. He was brought in before the purge, and then when it happened he stayed in there with is buddy until he shot himself in the head. Kelvin says he joined Dharma thingy. And he knows about the hostiles/others, he tells Desmond about them in his flashback as reasons why Desmond can't go outside the hatch. And Kelvin also knew the vaccine was bull****, he used the suit to manipulate Desmond into not going outside, fear. Desmond figured it out in the end when he saw the tear in the suit leg :)

4. I think they would have known, with Ben becoming leader and using the sub... or maybe they thought everything was fine because Ben lied. But note, when Juliet is being recruited, she is told by Richard that he represents a private interests, so the money is unlimited... so maybe theres rich ppl or a group or firm behind somewhere...

5. Either Dharma knows only the people of tha hatch remain, and want the experiment to continue, or they don't know.

Either way there are major pieces missing as to why certain things have happened... we be missing puzzle pieces.

I think your calculation of the purge early-mid 90s is accurate.

Hanso said he would supply the magnet station indefinitely. He would know when the button failed to be pushed, which is why the freighter now appears.

Also I believe Hurley said the food supply was meant to last two guys 90 days or something, so I think they were only supplying this one station, not the whole DHARMA group.
