Here is something that needs to be discussed, as it has come back many times now. At the end of season 2, some guys in the arctic found something, which we assume is the island.
When Ben wakes up in the desert, he's wearing a heavy jacket. And when he first breathes, you can see his breath, like when you breathe in cold air.
Whether you want to say he teleported or time traveled is irrelevant, but it seems obvious to me that he had to go through some cold arctic weather to do so.

That is interesting. I like it

On a geodesic (great circle) though, the shortest distance between the South Pacific and Tunisia doesn't pass through the Arctic.

I know that. But why would he wear a winter jacket when going from one tropical island to a hot desert?

Or he simply came from a cold place. That wasn't exactly arctic gear he was wearing- cold weather maybe but not arctic IMO.

At night, the temperature can drop below freezing in the Sahara. Maybe he arrived at night.
edit: I also remember there seemed to be some kind of imprint around him in the sand... Maybe he fell out of the plane and when he breathed out it was the dust from the impact with the sand that got in his lungs. I mean he did say he chartered a plane there.

well it seems more realistic than him teleporting. We have no reason to assume every little thing he says is a lie. He has told the truth occasionally lol.

The only time he admits to the truth is when he's called out on it, or he has to. Prime example is last night with Smoky.

If he had a plane, why didn't he just fly to the city instead of jumping out and risking injury or death? Not to mention the fact that he was dropped in what seemed to be the open desert. I know Ben is smarter than that.

If he arrived at night, wouldn't it have been dark outside?

I said he could have arrived at night, that doesn't mean he was found at night.
Plus we dont know what happened on the plane, he could have been pushed out etc.

Benjamin Linus chartered no plane.

He def didnt show up at nite and there was no plane. This is lost i think im ganna believe the teleporting theory more than the plane at night theory.

Perhaps teleportation catalists you through space in a way that the cold effects you. Don't forget real space is a vacuum and is very cold the further you get from a sun. Perhaps the way he is teleported he experiences the cold of deep space.

It seems to me that they are suggesting he was somehow teleported there, like in Star Trek (or maybe he was dumped out of a refrigerated truck, which we were not shown). Anyway, if some type of teleport, then maybe the mechanism requires some very low temperature to operate, ergo the parka. Another thought is you may never know where you will materialize, so "be prepared".

fell out of a plane????
i've jumped out of airplanes, and with out a parachute you known as a dirt dart. if he lived, he wouldn't have gotten up on his own, and certainly wouldn't have immediately started kicking ass.

Its funny how you entertain the notion that he can teleport and travel through time but you wont accept a more possible scenario that he was pushed out of a plane that dropped to something like 15 feet above ground.
I am not saying that's what happened but I would prefer that scenario over he has a teleportation device that he allowed to collect dust because he had a rusting submarine.

Sayid asked Ben how he got off the island. Ben told him he used Desmond's boat out to Fiji and then chartered a plane and crossed the Syrian border.

we seem to be ignoring the cut on his arm... how would he have gotten that by using a teleportation device from the island? It seems to me he was cut in a struggle of some sort.

Really Eor,
when did I say a word about teleportation? Airplanes don't fly 15 feet above the ground unless they're landing or crashing. Helicopters, maybe....
who cares what you prefer?

My thought is he was in a struggle on the island. The teleportation device he used is a one-way ticket off the island, to be used in the event of an emergency type thing. The reason he used it was because he needed to get off the island immediately (due to the struggle) but he otherwise would have gotten off the island by some other means.

yeah, i would go with that one ort. perhaps he was preparing to go into the teleportation device - somebody tried to stop him, struggle, ben makes it into device - desert!

He might have come in by the air,why would the guys on horses know he was there unless they heard a sound or saw something that way ,it did not show Ben taking out anyone else. The way the ground looked he might hit it hard.

good point,
something grabbed their attention, they were on the scene fast and furious....
but to say it was airplane is a shot in the dark like saying it was a flash of electrical light (Terminator). The mounted patrol was there by the time Ben was on his feet.
