Thoughts and questions....

A couple of points and questions.....

*I wouldn't be at all surprised if after the Dharma project, the island was up for sale at an auction, held in secret for the world's wealthiest people. Perhaps Widmore actually bought it, but Ben is resisting handing it over until Widmore actually 'conquers' it. Maybe that's how the game of theirs started.

*I have a feeling Sun's father, Mr Paik, is still involved. I think he may have a submarine filled with people, following the freighter. I could quite easily see a three-way war occuring between Ben and his people, Widmore's crew and Paik's ensemble.

*I don't think Ben actually controlled smokey. I think he knew it would probably come (or at the very least he 'woke it up) but gave the impression he is controlling it to make the survivors (Locke, Sawyer, Hurley) fear/ respect him. Would you mess with a man who could summon a deadly black mist that tears people to pieces?! :cool:

*I think Ben wanted the freighties to advance so he could capture their boat and equipment.

*What on earth happened to the second island?!?! It seems to have been forgotten about. I'm starting to think it was just an illusion that Ben somehow created.

*Does anyone else get the impression that we're going to see a big plot twist involving Hurley? I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Hurley flashback (that we initially think is a flash forward) where he is approached off-island by Ben. I'm also not entirely sure why they needed Hurley to find the cabin. After all, we know that Ben can find it as he has done in the past but I'm guessing Hurley's vivid (hallucinatory) imagination means that his mind is more capable of manifesting it quicker. Or something.

Perhaps that is why Widmore is not on the island anymore to begin with? Maybe he WAS the leader of the others, but Ben found out that he was going to make a deal with them re:selling them the island's secrets to the Dharma guys and that's why the "purge" happened and how Widmore lost his control over the Others...

Hi, guys.. I'm still bummed over the possibility of this being a great big game to Ben and Widmore... but back to the point of this particular thread...I really do not think it was ever indicated that Widmore was ever ON the island. And Ben told us Widmore can't even find it.... (unless someone can make it move or disappear, which I doubt). I think he made some financial transaction to purchase it because of the Black Rock and the islands properties. But the Others were there first and he is not an Other.
I do think some of the Losties' fathers are involved, although how cruel it would be to put one's own child into a situation like they are in.
As for Ben controlling Smokie... well, he recently said he didn't know what it was and I, for one, believed him to be telling the truth that time. Perhaps Ben doesn't exactly know what it is, but does know how to let it go and recall it, evidently from our last show.

Don't forget, at the send of S2 Penny radioed that they'd foud the Island for the brief pulse burst. She may have been radioing 'daddy' Whidmore. She thought she was on a resue mission to find Des when daddy was using her to find the island.

It wouldnt suprise me if Widmore planned the whole thing for Desmond to find the island. He keeps Penny from getting Des's letters when Desmond was in jail or whatever that was, so that Penny would hate him and not want to be with him, then Widmore comes up with the boat race because he knows Desmond will want to enter it to prove something to Widmore. Widmore probably planned the whole course so that the boat would end up in the part of the pacific where the island was and the island's features would cause Desmond to end up on it. Widmore knew that Penny would try to find Desmond so he used her to locate the island. It wouldnt suprise me if 1. Widmore was involved in Penny going to the monastary where desmond was and 2. was involved with Desmond meeting Libby and getting her boat, because desmond needed that boat and Widmore would be working behind the scenes to get desmond to be in the race.

But why couldn't Widmore just do the same things Penny did himself, without her???

Wait, I may be wrong about something I said. I do think Widmore has been on the island and I do think he was an Other in the sense that maybe he was the Cap't of the Black Rock way back... (I know, a different thread, sorry...)
