Well Going to Season 4 Episode 1 "The begging of the end" When Hurly is in the Hospital playing 4 in a row with another Patiant, BUT he has a Visitor Claiming to be an Attourney of Ociacic arelines.
Once Hurly Realises that he is lying becasuse this man left his Buisness cards "at home" the man Says - " are they dead? " this scares hurly!
my theory kicks in here, When charlie comes to hurly in the mental home Garden, and Everyone would think that this is one of hurlys illusions, Well i think that is wrong, if you remeber, some other pationt come over to hurly and said " i would be carful if i where you " hurley - "why?" pationt - " because that guy is staring at you" AH HA! This means that HE saw charlie aswell!! so he must be alive! But getting onto why he Says " yes i am dead but im also here"
i think that the People who claim to be pennys boat, want to kill them all, all of the survivors, but some escaped, SO charlie is Pretending to be dead, SO HE CAN LIVE! this is why the " ocianic arlines man" said Are they alive?
Because he wants to find out if charlie is alive or dead, and they believe that he is not, this is why they wanted to transport him to another facillitie.
So overall Charlie is alive but if he says he isnt dead, they will find him and kill him, they cant kill hurly as he has security. obviosly the reason they want to kill them, is because they are in the real world, the others are on the island, so jack and hurly are threats because i believe, that the " pennys boat " people DO NOT WANT THE OUTSIDE WORLD TO KNOW ABOUT JACOB OR THE ISLAND THEY WANT IT FOR THEMSELVES! So to stop them telling people about it.. they need to get rid of them!
Hope my theory makes scence, I am 16 years old, add you comments please.

Yes thats what i was getting at,
he sed " yes i am dead " implying that he has faked his death so he could live, so they think he is dead.
jack could also know, chalie could be the funeral at the end of season 3, where the vicar said know one turned up, he asked " would you like me to open the coffin?" jack replies " no.. no" jack knew that the was no body in there, if it turns out to be chalies "fake" funeral.

Another one of these charlie is alive threads, I thought we went through this, I guess not. The island or some higher power from the island, can create images, extremely lifelike images, that anyone can see touch and hear. This is how I believe that there is another flight 815 4 miles under the surface in that trench. The island or some power or someone, maybe Jacob, maybe not jacob, I or anyone els is not sure, is creating these visions that are almost real. This is where Charlie comes from. He is dead, dead and gone, but it doesn't mean hes out of the show, he'll pop up again from time to time, same as boone.

I agree with Ezekial. To all you die hard Charlie lovers haha...Charlie is still on the show!! No worries!! He's just not alive and with us like the rest :) We all watched him die and the writers have even confirmed that when a character dies, they are IN FACT dead. I know a lot of you are saying he could have swam out the hole, but I think that is seriously doubtful. That small hole could fit maaaaybe his head but yah I think it comes down to the fact Charlie accepted his fate and went down like a champ ;)

I also agree he is dead. Otherwise where did Charlie disappear to at the Psych ward?
What do all the people who have died have in common, does anybody see an attribute they all share?

I don't know what they have in common, maybe their saleries were all way too high LOL. so they got booted from the series. We'll figure it out soon enough.

This might be a little unrelated, but was just something that came to mind..
Anytime Hurley 'saw' his imaginary friend 'Dave' he was always dressed/looked the same(PJ's and dressing gown and slippers).Yet when he saw Charlie in the mental institution he appeared different (clothes/hair etc) to how he looked when he last saw him. This just made me think that this wasnt just a figment of Hurleys imagination and perhaps Charlie is still alive after all :)maybe just wishful thinking though!

My slightly farfetched theory on the whole "Is Charlie Dead" issue is that in order to keep Hurley's already precarious mental state a bit more stable, maybe Charlie just tells Hurley he is dead.
Although, there is still the event in the police station where Hurley sees Charlie drowning in the mirror that could blow that whole concept out of the water (no pun intended!) ;)

I think he's dead, but that's a really good point you brought up..
When the other people who have died appear, aren't they all dressed the same way as when they died, except for Charlie? I may be forgetting someone, but all the people popping into my head are dressed as they were when they died.

No No No, if you find the article and read it, the person they found in the room was from New York and is survived by a teenage son.

I seem to remember Boone popping up in different clothes.
Most recently, if I'm not mistaken - in the episode where Locke goes into the sweat lodge.
