Predicting Rain

Weve seen Locke predict rain on a couple of occasions throughout the series.
At the end of The Beginning of the End, when the group splits, it begins to rain.
Theres a shot of Locke right when the rain begins to fall, hes looking up at the sky or rain. He looks very curious and concerned, and simply caught off guard by the fact that a rain storm just hit.

It may just be me, but that shot seemed to emphasize Lockes reaction.
Does this mean hes loosing touch or that something is "jamming his island frequency"?

So is it just me seeing something in Lockes reaction thats not there, or did anyone else pick up on this?

the clip of Episode 2 shows lock Predicting that the storm is going to PASS when hurly replies its a monsoon.. then it stops..

maybe he has switched? instead of predicting rain, predicting when it will stop?

i dont know.

If I remember right, didn't Juiet also predict rain? If not her it was someone else in eddition to Locke.

I'm not sure about the rain, I'd have to go back and look but good point on wondering if he's "losing touch with the island". I think he sometimes he does lose touch as soon as he starts losing his faith. I think his strong faith is why he can walk again...if you notice, when his faith starts to falter, he then loses movement in his legs (like when Ben shoots him and he lands in the grave) but THEN when he sees Walt its as if his faith is restored and he can continue on.

yea, I agree....he had lost all faith while in the ditch, even had the gun cocked and pointed at his face when suddenly walt appeared and called his name, ordered him out of the ditch and get back to work. walt always seems to restore his faith and gets him back to whatever his purpose is.

I was looking up some info on Desmond on lostpedia and I forgot that he predicted rain

Season 3 (Days 69-93)


Desmond meets Ms. Hawking in the antique store, where he learns of the altered timeline he is in. ("Flashes Before Your Eyes")
After turning the failsafe key in present Island time, Desmond seems to reenter his life on the day of his interview with Widmore. He has a fragmented memory of his original timeline and is able to affect some small changes in it. He recognizes the young musician on the street as Charlie, confronts him about his identity, and then correctly predicts the sudden onset of rain. He arranges a meeting with his friend, Donovan, that hadn't occurred previously, to discuss the possibility of time travel. Donovan is skeptical of Desmond's story and asks him to predict what will happen next. Desmond predicts the outcome of a televised soccer game, only to be proven wrong.
