It says the Dr. washes ashore on December 27, 2004. It was what month in 2005 when Ben asked the lady at the hotel?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shape_of_Things_to_Come_%28Lost%29

So the doctor washes up on the shore and Ben flashes forward one year? So he can flash forward a year because otherwise he would know what year it was right? Or was this a whole year later when Ben took his trip? I don't believe he would wait one year to go and tell Widmore he was going to kill Penny. What are your thoughts?

I don't really know how the doctor and Ben are related in any way, but Ben was just having a flash forward - it was almost a year after the doctor washed up on shore.

So Ben must have been off the island somewhere cold and that is why he had the parka on. It took him ten months to find Sayid. So Sayid got off the freighter found Nadia and married her within that time. So how long does anyone think it took Jack and Kate and the rest get off the island because Kate had all of her court stuff. I thought Ben went into the future before this stuff really happened.

Kate's trial may have very well already happened by that point, or maybe even happened at the same time. I don't recall them ever giving us a specific date of the trial, but one would assume the trial took place only a couple months after their return.
But the Oceanic 6 all get off the island at the same time, which is why they're the Oceanic 6. Meaning they all got off the island some time before Ben's flash forward.

Doubtful, judging by the age of aaron being around 2 or so, my guess is the trial was much later than a couple months after thier return

I agree with Ort. I don't see any connection between the Dr.'s death, and Ben's FF at this point. I am interested in learning who killed the Dr. since he seemed like a bad guy and sympathetic to the mercenaries to me. I guess it could be Sayid's handiwork.

I wouldn't be surprised is it was Sayid who killed him, either. Then threw him off the boat to float ashore to send the freighties a message.

I thought possibly Sayid the minute I saw the slashed throat! That definitely sends a message alright!! I can't wait for them to show us what's going on back on that freighter!!

I don't see any conection between the doc and the flashforward either but I was trying to understand the time line.

The boats is many miles offshore, I doubt anyone would expect him to float right up to the shore.
And the only message that would send to the Freighties is "please kill me while I'm sleeping". ;)

Right. It very well could have been Sayid who killed him (which I doubt) and it just coincidentally washed up onto shore.
I still contend that Michael is not Ben's real spy on the boat and it's likely whoever the real spy is did this. Michael could barely trigger the bomb, so I'd doubt very much that he could grab someone and cut their throat. Sayid are Desmond are likely continuing to keep a somewhat low-profile about things while they find out more info.

The currents must be exactly right to bring the poor Doctor right on the shore. Did Keamy and his gang bring him with them and drop them off? Does anyone else think it was weird that they knew about the electric fence thing?

Knowing about the fence didn't surprise me. If they had prior knowledge about it, they knew to stay away. (or the 1st guy thru got zapped) Even if they didn't know exactly what it was, they were smart enough to not go thru. I'm surprised they didn't try a grenade or something, although the element of surprise would vanish.
Did they know what the fence was for? When Ben said" I'd like to discuss a counter proposal....turn around and forget you ever knew about this Island..." The thought that should have been in the back of their mind, what "was that big ass fence for????" They soon discovered...

You know, I didn't even think about the fence situation. I just watched it without any thought, but you're right, how did they know about it to not walk through?
It definitely means that Widmore, or at least someone close to him, has intimate knowledge of the island. As we've seen before, they even knew about the station with the gas.

Right. It very well could have been Sayid who killed him (which I doubt).
Given that Sayid got to the freighter on day 94 and the body was found on day 97, I don't think it adds up as the freighter was 40 miles away.
Another thing I just noticed. When we see the doctor on the freighter, he has a wound on his left cheek. It's obviously healed a bit but has no stitches. When he washes up on the shore, that same wound has some funky looking stitches in place. Odd.

40 miles in 3 days. 13.3 mpd what's so improbable about that?
in my experience of working with bodies floating in the ocean...nevermind.

Well, there could also be a time difference in time between the freighter and the island. I still think it was Sayid.

If the Island is Widmores then did he put the fence up and that is how they knew? Did anyone see the movie The Village? The whole fence thing reminds me of that wall around them and how they had everyone scared of everything so they didn't want to venture out.
