ok so the otehrnight me and my freinds was watching 'The constant' and as he hadnt seen season 4 before, (as he doesnt have the channel on hsi tv for the new episodes so he buys the DVDS) he had recently seen season 3 and picked up on the fact that desmond told Charles whitemore that he had no military training.
i however do nopt recall this episode but i do trust my freind on this, sorry if this has already been discussed.

btw i know the new eps of lsot start on sun in UK, but in the USA do they start tomorrow or have they already?

your totally right...and the scene your thinking of where he says this is in "flashes before your eyes" after hes turned the swan stations fail safe key and sent himself back to relive parts of his past. however, i think this scene actually takes place before the 1996 events seen in "the constant"...only after the meeting with widmore did desmond decide to break up with penny and join the military as a way to prove his worth and responsibility to penny as well as her father...

Yep. Desmond's timeline is:

Worked as a monk, got fired, met Penny (Catch-22)

then

Interviewed with Widmore, tried to ask Penny to marry him but chickened out and broke up with her (flashes before your eyes)

then

joined the army, got unstuck in time (the constant)

then

was dishonerably discharged from the army, embarked on the boat race, crashed on island, pushed button (live together, die alone)

you can just watch a lot karate movies...it's pretty much the same thing as military training.
