I'm gonna say that Jin has become to badass Sayid used to be. I think Jin is still alive on the Island, but Ben (or someone else) tells Sun he is dead to get her on the chopper off the Island.

maybe he realizes that on the island he does not have to live the life of working for her father any longer...

but honestly, his number one priority is getting her off the island fast so she does not die...he is willing to sacrafice anything to make sure they are ok...he truly (which i cannot figure out why) loves sun and he is putting her and the baby first..jin being billy badass was hot!

Ya, being a hitman can come in handy when you need to threaten someone. I think his first concern is getting Sun off the island and the chopper doesn't hold many. Would make sense to assume she had to go first. I don't think he plans to stay and not be there for her and the baby. He would so much want to go with them but not endanger them of course. It's a good call that he fakes death in order to force her to get on the helicopter and go.

What didn't make sense about this scene was: Why would Jin send Sun away on a helicopter controlled by suspicious people like Charlotte and Daniel?? Given how secretive and dishonest (and dangerous) their people are, how could he assume there would be any guarantee for Sun's safety once she's off the island and in their hands?

She is an Anthropologist- the study of human culture, past, present and future. Korean may not be the only lanaguage she knows. Good observation.

I don't think it has to do with any personal realization, just that Jin knows that they don't have intentions of getting any of them off the island but wants to make sure that if anyone does- it's his wife and fetus.
