A few things that we have learned from this episode.
1. Jack knows he is related to Claire and Aaron.
2. Jack and Kate get engaged.
3. Rousseau is dead.
4. Miles “abilities” are real.
5. Sawyer is not the person in the coffin.
6. Charlotte speaks Korean.
A few questions.
1. Where is Claire?
2. Jack gets sick but then the island heals his scar?
3. What is Kate doing for Sawyer?
4. Did the monster kill any of those guys?
5. Why didn’t they fully bury Karl and Rousseau?
6. Who was Kate talking to on the phone?

4. Did the monster kill any of those guys?
When Keamy and his troops came close to finding Sawyer hiding in the bush, they were carrying one dude that looked roughed up...blood on his face...etc.
pretty boring episode imo... especially after the tour de force that was 'the shape of things to come'.
I wish the writer's would use the same rule with Christian Shepherd that they use with the monster (ie, every time it is seen, you learn something new about it's purpose/mythology. I'm getting kinda tired of Christian just acting spooky and disappearing).
rant over! :cool::mad::rolleyes:

From the comment Jack made when he was fighting with Kate and he yelled, "You're not even related to him!" we deduce that Jack is implying, "and I am related to him!"

I agree it was a substandard episode. In fact it kinda p*ssed me off a bit.
I didn't like the whole "aw, they're in love and getting lovingly engaged" turn into a "wah, wah I can't really trust you" load of crap. Boooooring.
We knew Jack wasn't going to die, so whoop-t-freaking doo- he lived through the horrific crisis. Wow.
And while we can assume he knows about Aaron, I'm not totally convinced. IIRC there was no emphasis when he told Kate that she wasn't even related to Aaron (as in, you're not even related to him [but I am]). He just seemed to be pointing out the fact that she wasn't related to him, which might be annoying to him (as it is to me) when she calls him her son.
The whole Claire's missing angle wasn't impressive either. Miles saw Christian- so what? We've been seeing him for 3 1/2 seasons now.
Thank goodness it looks like Horace's return makes for a good episode next week:)

I don't think you can flat out exclude Sawyer from being in the coffin. They said Sawyer chose not to come back. But I believe their are two types that came back. Those who returned publicly as the O6 and those who returned clandestinely and under-the-radar, like Walt, Michael, Ben. Sawyer may not have returned publicly, but quietly returned and assumed an alias. Was Kate actually talking to Sawyer during the phone call? Hmmm...something to ponder.

Thats my question too.. Do we have Robo Cops on the Island how the hell did they survive??!?!!?
Not cool. Smokie definately could have killed all of them.

As to your questions:
1. Certainly still on the island and probably taken to the Others or Jacob (what other options are there?).
2. I don't get this. Whether on the island or not, the body heals its own wounds. I've never bought into the island miracle treatment view, because all the things can be explained scientifically. I mean, how do we know that Rose is cured of cancer? Because she says so? I don't remember her having any blood panels or scans performed on the island. And Locke could be walking because the force of the crash relieved the prerssure on his spinal nerves, which could not have been operated upon.
3. Did Sawyer have any unfinished business? Probably related to the last woman he stole $$$ from. Having Kate get the $$$ and return it.
4. I would say no or very minimal. The chopper could not carry a large crew. It seems like it could handle 4-6 passengers, plus the pilot. Keamy's group when leaving had five.
5. They are Mercenarys and cover their tracks, but did not have time to dig deep graves. Just enough to cover the evidence. If it was not for psychic Miles, they would have walked on.
6. Didn't you hear? It was another Mom scheduling a playdate. Actually, I say Sawyer (who retunred under-the-radar) or some other island refugee who seemed to know her and Jack.

I thought id add a few things
-Daniel has a thing for Charlotte.
-Sun get off the island and Jin is left behind because Jin threatens Charlotte
?Why is Christian reaching out to his children?
?Does Sawyer have the hots for Claire?
?Why was Miles so interested in Claire?
?Is Juliet over Jack and Jack over Juliet?
?Whats with all the Alice in Wonderland references?

I agree that this ep. was boring. I was actually falling asleep. But I do wonder if Kate was talking to Sawyer on the phone then WTF??????? Did not know cell coverage was that good...............

Why, when Kate was on the phone, use the line before she turned around and noticed Jack say "He was over here for an hour (or so)..."?

Ben could easily communicate from the island. Is it farfetched that if Sawyer stayed, he was able to do the same?

I wouldn't call this episode more boring, it was more demur then last week's episode. Its revelations were far less obvious this week, and under a few more layers. I think if we keep looking at some aspects of this episode, we'll see some more important aspects of what we're looking for.
Example:
Christian was holding Aaron. Charlie slapped Hurley.
The 'dead' can interact physically with the living....Why?
Example 2:
Miles walks over the graves and hears Danielle and Karl, as well as their names. So perhaps he can translate the whispers..
Example 3 (Mentioned earlier):
"Kate, you're not even related to him!"
Jack's line to Kate implies he knows he's related to Aaron.

When Hurley said, " Were all dead" was he refering to the oceanic six or the survivers of 815? Is that what he and charlie have been talking about, that they actually died in the crash? I know the writers said it wasnt pergatory, but it makes you wonder.
Also the new episode who is the guy who has been dead for 12 years?
ConfidenceMan
05-02-2008, 10:33 PM
That's Horace Goodspeed, the guy that was there when Ben was born.
I just realized that Hurley said the same line 2 episodes in a row...sort of....last week he said "We're all gonna die." and then last night he said "We're dead."

Hello. Not that this is of big importance, but regarding your comment about the crash possibly relieving pressure on Locke's spinal nerves... sorry, not gonna happen. I've worked extensively with spinal cord injuries in neuro physical therapy, and that would truly be a fairy tale. That would not be explained medically or scientifically. Just thought I'd throw that in.
but you have some good ideas. :)

I agree with a lot of what has been said esp. about Christian being the 10 second celebrity guest. I'll be expecting him to pop up like a duck in a shooting gallery or that county fair amusement where the squirrels come up out of holes and you try to hit them with a mallet. Also, I figured out why Smokie only wounded Keamy's crew----It was Smokey-Lite. Hah-I couldn't resist!

I also picked it up when he read Aaron the story his dad (Aaron's grandpa) used to read to Jack.
Thinking about it, it also explains why Jack has such a hard time with Aaron. Aaron is the bastard son of his dad's bastard daughter; a product of his dad's lies. We know Jack has daddy issues, it makes sense to think that those issues would manifest with his newphew.
