When Miles found Danielle and Karl with their faces like they were it was really strange. I felt like they now were a part of the island. Like the whispers. Most people would never be burried like that.

The mercs may have buried them in shallow graves to cover their tracks. 4 or 5 burly men ought to dig pretty fast, especially in that soft soil.

As far as the bodies being face up, it was just a plot device for the viewers to identify with what Miles was experiencing, and what Sawyer and Claire saw.

i think the mercs buried them not out of respect, but neccesity. They wanted them hidden, but didn't do a good job. Probably due to what mahalo dude said about letting the viewers see who it was.

Do you remember the whispers that they heard on early episodes? The survivors thought it was just the others. But then miles heard the whispers the two bodies. i am thinking that the whispers the others heard were other dead people. any thoughts?

I have always thought that the whispers are all the people who have died on the island. Some of the whispers said hide they can see us and other weird things. That is why Danielle heard whispers they were all of the people from her ship who died.

No what I am saying is most peoples faces aren't sticking out of the ground with everthing else burried.

Well Those two i think were buried fast. They were buried by the people because they didn't want anyone to know that they were coming. All the other peopel that died was buried by someone who cared for them because tehy were buried deep and face up. alot of the people who was buried on the beach was buried face up.

When I named the post face up I was talking about their faces being out of the dirt. Everyone gets buried on their back so of course their faces would be up. I just found it weird how their faces were out of the dirt. Miles didn't have to dig to find their faces.

Yup, that was creepy how their faces were almost sticking out-just the outermost parts-didn't see ears or hair or neck-really gave me goose bumps.It reminds me of that termite commercial where the wall has a face that talks to the owner and warns her of the termites in the wall. Wouldn't it seem that to have a face sticking up like that you'd have to slant their body down into the ground so the body wouldn't be showing. Definitely could say it's when
gravediggers go bad!

It looked like Miles had to do a little more than dust them off, but not much digging. That was a creepy scene. I think the whispers are all the dead people, too. But then again, you'd think Miles would be hearing whispers all the time.

Danielle, exactly! How does a person shut out the voices if you can hear them in the first place. Selective listening? I agree that Miles should be hearing them all of the time-wow! No wonder he's grumpy- the whispers ipod plugged into your ear 24/7.Ow!

Yes! If you go to see the Forbidden Kingdom movie now in theatres, you will see so many similarities to the Lord of the Rings. They tweaked them somewhat , but if you are a trilogy fan you will instantly see the connections.
The whispers are very much like the ones heard in the marshes. Good comparison there.
