Disappointed in Smokie

I was surprised to see that all six mercs survived Smokie's attack. Granted, one was a little beat up. But Smokie's last appearance was intense, yet he didn't take out one of them? Doesn't make sense. :confused:

Maybe the island still needs them around for some reason? Maybe smokie just distracted them while Ben and the gang escaped.....Who knows, but it is wierd :confused:

This brought to mind when Ben said he didn't want to kill innocents. Assuming he could have gotten smokie to kill them , why wouldn't he? They are the opposite of innocents aren't they? ( non-civilan)

We know Smokie can kill (for example, Mr. Ecko). So there was obviously some restraint here for a purpose and Smokie was a distraction more than a killing machine.

I have long been saying that the island no longer wants Ben there in control. Think about how Ben got cancer on an island that heals, Jacob said "help me" to Locke, and Richard went behind Ben's back to share info with Locke. Now with Smokie not killing the freighter people, that's another sign to me that the island doesn't like Ben (Smokie will not kill for him)

To repeat what I said on another thread----It was Smokie-lite. He doesn't kill them he just gives them a buzz.

Totally agree I was hoping they were all killed as well lol Regarding smokie choosing who decides it should kill or not, can't think of anyone worse than the soliders it had the chance to. Scriptwriters eh? :)
