Why didn't Tom and the other 2 others listen to Ben and shoot Sayid ,Jin and Bernard?
Was it Tom ( guy Sawyer killed, fake beard guy, guy who took Walt from the boat) or one of the other 2 others who made the decision not to kill them? I couldn't follow that dialogue.

It wasn't toms idea to not shoot them it was that other guys, when tom comes over he's like after everything thats happend after all they've done to us (blew up like 7 of em) we should have killed them for real instead of putting three bullets in the sand.

Well for one they thought Ben had lost it and they didn't want to do anything irrational at first because they thought they could still use the hostages. Also there have been many points made in the show that show Tom has kinda the nicer guy of the Others....I don't mean that he's a good guy by any means but when it comes down to how he treats the Losties, he's a lot nicer than some of the others. Maybe he just had a soft spot? (Lol I doubt it thought) :)

Remember Tom asks Ben on the radio if he should kill them. Ben says no...cut to commercial. During that time he explains his plan for a ruse, a bargaining chip to get Jack to agree to his demands.
Oddly he seems to be less concerned with his own people than with the 815 people.

I think it seems pretty clear that as soon as Locke showed up all heck broke loose for Ben. IT's the beginning of him losing control, credibility and power with his people. That's why they disregarded the order from Ben. They think he is losing it.
