This might be nothing, but since Sawyer, Claire and Miles walked over Karl and Rousseau's burried bodies, that would mean both groups took the same trail from the Other's compound even though Karl's group was heading toward the Temple and Sawyer's group was heading back to the beach camp. Both groups had been on that trail for a while since Karl's group decided to take a brief rest there. I suppose the travelers might have to take a Y in the trail at some point and head in different directions, but I was surprised that the path to the Temple coincided with the path to the beach camp. Since no one has seen the Temple, I figured it was in a different direction from the Other's compound.

That's a good point about the pathway being the same. I also wonder if they are buried with their faces so close to the surface for some unknown reason. Have they become spirit-like sentries of some kind as in the whispers? Do they now have a job to do because they were on the island for so long and it doesn't let people go easily- whether dead or alive? That was really creepy the way Miles found them. Are they now Smokie's watchdogs? IDK.

I'm not even sure the bodies were burried. They looked to me like the island was absorbing their bodies, which might also explain the whispers - a bunch of dead people have been absorbed by the island and are close to the surface.

I like that explanation of them being absorbed by the island and close to the surface. If that's true, then maybe that's also the reason the hatches are buried underground and fortified-to keep out the whispers, smokey, and Jacob.

I too like this explanation about the bodies being absorbed into the island. I just can't picture Keamey and friends taking the time to dig even a shallow grave. Don't think they really cared about hiding the bodies.

I agree that the crew seems unlikely to care about burying anybody they killed. Unless that was some superstitious ritual thing. If the island absorbs the bodies of victims who've had a violent death, then wouldn't the Dharma people have been absorbed, too? Does the island "choose" who it absorbs? I love the theory, just trying to get a better grasp of what it might mean. Is Jacob one and the same as the island?

Maybe Jacob is the island and he only absorbs who he believes to be good. Not sure if I buy into that theory but it's move believable than Keamey taking the time to bury the bodies.

Yes. Keamey seems very much like being on the edge of civilization. All those tears he shed for his dying crew should have been a tip-off to that. His job is to kill people just like the homicidal bombers do in Iraq. He doesn't care that much about who he kills-just THAT he kills.

getting back to the location of the Temple.....What if the temple is actually underneath the giant foot? What a perfect place to have another hatch/temple hidden away like that. Just as comic relief I was imagining a feather near the foot statue and by tickling the foot the doors to the temple open up and voila!
Been here too long, I guess.
