View Full Version : Jin Isn't Dead

If you all remember in that one episode ... Jin was buying a panda bear at that toy store. At first it seemed he was heading to the hospital to give it to his newborn child, but instead gave it to the Ambassador for his newborn.
They had Hurley show up at Sun's place and escort her to the cemetary, where Jin was supposedly buried, but was he really killed?
I think that somehow Jin is alive and thinks that Sun is dead and vice versa. They mentioned that he was married, so I'm assuming he got re-married to someone else, like the Ambassador's daughter.
Eventually, I think they will chance upon one another and get back together. He couldn't have gotten killed in the crash, beacause he is shown off the island.
Any thoughts?
Oh and hello to all!

Welcome Delany.
Ok I agree with you Jin isnt dead, but most viewers (not all) have agreed that the Jin part of that episode was a flashback and the sun part was a flash forward.
The last episode really convinced me he is still alive on the island, he makes sure Sun gets a spot on the copter but doesnt reserve one for himself. Maybe Charlotte gets pissed off that she talked to him like that, and splits the two up when its time to leave

The scenes with Jin buying the Panda were flashback pre-island scenes. I think Jin is still on the island with Sawyer and others who stayed behind for reasons we don't know about yet.

That's the thing, I'm not so sure they were flashbacks. I think that is what the writers want us to believe. I'm of the group that thinks it was a flash forward, however small it may be. I'll have to go back and watch that episode again to see if there were any clues I missed. Thanks for the replies guys ... good to hear different opinions.

The panda thing was a flashback.
The Sun giving birth thing was a flashforward.
If Jin were still alive Sun wouldn't actually go to a grave to mourn.
Even if Jin was dead but his body was on the island, she wouldn't actually go to a grave in Korea to mourn. And Hurley, as far as we know, doesn't live in Korea, he lives in SoCal. So why would Hurley fly from SoCal to Korea to join Sun in mourning at Jin's grave if Jin wasn't actually, physically in that grave? I don't buy the whole "Sun and Hurley are being watched and have to put on a show" theory since there's no reason why Jack, Kate and Aaron wouldn't also be part of the "show" they're putting on.

So why would Jin say to the nurse that he's only been married for 2 months, and why would it be revealed that he's working for Mr. Paik in the episode?

I think that the entire Jin/Sun episode was to keep us wondering if Jin makes it off the island, only to reveal in the end that he doesn't. Will the writers kill off Jin in reality? Who knows? Regardless, I think that Sun and Hurley honestly believe that Jin is dead.

if anybody needs proof that the jin scenes are indeed flashbacks just check out the cell phone he is using...that thing is WAY too old school for him to be using post 2004

The writers confirmed they were flashbacks so they are flashbacks
They also confirmed that Jin is not an O6 and so he will stay on the
island

Exactly, I do believe that Hurley and Sun think Jin is dead. As for Jin saying he has only been married for 2 months. As I said, I think he was re-married, because he thinks Sun is dead. I think they both believe the other is dead, because something happened when they were leaving the island and they got separated somehow. As for the Mr. Paik comment, I'm not sure. Nothing is ever quite as it seems. That is the beauty of the show.

Except that the writers confirmed it a flashback
Good professional writers dont need to sell lies to keep their
show fresh, and Darlton certainly dont do that

Ok, just got done watching Ji Yeon again and noticed something towards the end. When Jin gives the panda to the Ambassador he glances into the hospital room and has a look on his face, like he was remembering Sun. He then walks out and the receptionist congratulated him on his newborn ... he then said it wasn't his and said don't rush him, he's only been married 2 months. They had that music playing like it was a shocking moment.
If it was a flashback, then why would he have that look on his face, like he missed Sun?
Also on the grave in the flash forward it said on the Tombstone 1974-2004. Thought I would throw that out there to see if anyone had any timeline ideas.
As for the writers confirming that it was a flashback. What, you don't think for one instant that they could be lying to us? If they told us everything as it were, then why would we even bother watching?

The creators of the show have not gone against anything they have already said or created. For them to lie, in public, to their fans, regarding the plotlines would be a real turn-off to many of the fans.
What they do, instead, is to keep a tight grip on upcoming plotlines and to be cryptic with their interview responses. If they say it was a flashback, I believe it to be a flashback. Now, on the other hand, if they suddenly say Jin's scene could be something else entirely, then I will keep an open mind about it. But I've seen nothing like that regarding the scene.

Here are my 2 cents: The scene with Jin was a flash-forward. Everybody probably thinks that he is dead, hence the grave but for some reason it is a secret that he got off of the island and is alive. Perhaps Jin too will have to work for Ben or maybe someone else made a proposal to Jin to keep him alive if he in turn did something for them. So this is why Sun is in mourning an Hurley might fly all of the way out to Korea to support his island-mate who thinks she lost her hubbie.
This seems to me why Jin is looking for woman having babies in hospitals: he's hoping to get a glimpse of Sun and their children. The idea of Jin being married to someone else is probably all part of his new identity.
So there you have it. I can't expand on why someone would want to make it look like Jin was dead but I feel strongly that he is alive and well. Please tell me your thoughts b/c my boyfriend and friend have been relentlessly teasing about this idea. And btw, I'm a newbie at posting but I've been watching LOST since the pilot aired. Thanks for any comments!

Being a flashback, maybe Jin had only been married to Sun for 2 months.
