I hope this will PLEASE put the arguement to rest, though on this board the chances of that are slim I know!
Why would the writers suddenly introduce another character who spoke Korean if Jin is doomed to die and Sun is going to be leaving the Island before too long...? To me it seems too convinient...and what I think they are doing is simply getting ready to pass off the duties of Jins translator from Sun to Charolette. This along with Miles suddenly becoming a bit more likeable is proof I think that him along with Charolette, Daniel, and Frank will be left on the Island and join Locke, Sawyer, Jin and the rest who are left behind as part of the "main" group...so no more Jin really is dead threads or I'll summon Smokie on all you bastards!

I dont necessarily agree with you about the reason but its almost
certain that he is not dead. But he aint getn off that island one way
or another. Id like to point out that while at the grave, neither Sun nor
Hurley ever actually said he was dead or anything hinting it

so why would they have introduced another korean speaking character if not to use her as a translator for jin...? does jacob maybe speak korean...?

my post?

Your right, Jin doesnt die. But...
(in my opinion) Charlotte was shown to speak Korean because she works for Piak or has some connection. We all know he will come into play sooner or later. Besides Jin in starting to speak pretty good english and gets along fine with the Losties when Sun is not around.

Good point, possible, maybe
Paik is already connected to Widmore and Hanso so
he must know about the island. He will become a big player
without a doubt.
But what would Charlotte have done for him?
GodlessM

And surely there would have been some sort of scene when
she learned of Sun. If she still worked for him, she would have
probably told him where she was, if not, then she at least would
have been surprised or something.

Nah, my guess is he already knows. Widmore knows that flight 815 crashed there, I bet Piak does to. He prolly doesnt know she is pregnate though.

OK THEN! Yea! None of us want Jin to die anyway! Good thoughts!
Ben isn't the only one that always has a plan, I see; YOU do TOO! YEA! lol

It still bothers me, though, that they confirmed to the viewers that very few Losties will have a happy ending... boo...

I don't disagree with you on the translator idea but there are many reasons Charlotte could suddenly show that she speaks Korean.
#1 Heightens her value as a character.
#2 Connects her to doing some archaeology/anthro in Korea
#3 Gives her more mystery-Is she Paik's employee?
#4 Creates a Jin /Charlotte interface
#5 Allows Jin to get her to promise Sun's rescue (She understands blackmail)
#6 Makes it possible for us to believe that a very soft person like Sun can make it off the island (w/o Jin's help) when under "Sweet" Charlotte's protection.
Anyone want to add something here, please do!

Yes after that episode I think there's a bit more hope that he doesn't die - I really hope the same goes for Claire too - Sawyer's fate seems secure at the moment at least - I'm just dying to know how they get them on the helicopter - is there a struggle, what happens - it's just so great! The second half of this season has really heated up!

Actually thats not true about Sawyer.
Hurley had a visit from his dead close friend Charlie.
Jack had a visit from his dead father Christian.
See the trend here?
We know that he doesnt leave the island, but he could have
asked Kate to do this favour before she left. I think it might have
something to do with his daughter Clementine.

...actually, it seems in the future, the O6 are the ones with the bad lives - maybe the people who are left behind are living out the good life, in the end.

Ok, here's my thing. Jin HAS to be dead for the whole "Oceanic Six" thing to even make sense. Here's the Oceanic Six for you:
1. Jack
2. Kate
3. Sayid
4. Hurley
5. Sun
6. Aaron
Some might think Aaron doesn't count; I think he does.
Jin, throughout the fourth season, has always made sure he will get Sun and his child off of the island; not necessarily himself.

The O6 have been confirmed and Aaron is one of them. Jin will do anything to see that Sun gets off the island and it seems to me that he trades his freedom so that Sun can have hers.

OR,
Paik knows where Sun is and hires Charlotte to rescue her. Because of his ties to Widmore he knows about the freighter. For some reason the expedition requires the services of an archeologist and Charlotte (who works for him anyway) is a perfect fit. Not only does he know her but she fits the proffesional profile and she speaks Korean. Remember that Paik doesn't know that Sun speaks English so he believes her rescuer needs to speak her language.
So while I don't think Jin is dead I don't think the fact that Charlotte speaks Korean guarantees that Jin survives.

I believe it's as simple as that. There was no way for Jin to play a solid role in getting her off the island like we saw unless he could talk with one of those who could do it.
Interesting thought though, but hardly 'proof' of anything. That word gets tossed around here way to easily.

Smokie is sleeping...sooooooooo...charlotte speaks korean because she works for paik industries, sun and hurley think jin is dead, and if sun gets off the island, why keep jin alive?

maybe its better people think jin is dead because paik would want to kill him if he was alive. didnt he screw over paik?

The two companies are associates of the Hanso Foundation. Whether or not they really know each other has yet to be seen (I think), but one would imagine that the heads of two associated companies would know each other.
Jin doesn't have to be dead, that's for sure. But everything is purely speculative at this point, and there's no "proof" one way or the other. And I agree, "proof" gets thrown around way too much on this board.

I agree with Ort, since when did a TV show have to have things proven so much, for it to be entertaining? Dang, cop shows dont have this much proof.

i dont get why people are so sure that charlotte is employed by paik...if she was im pretty sure she wouldve heard about his daughter being on flight 815 which means she would know who sun is...why then would she need to be threatened in order to agree letting sun on the helicopter and off the island? we have all seen the type of guy paik is...i think if charlotte was working for him she would be more than eager to reunite him with his daughter as im sure he would reward her pretty damn nicely...
