This is for all us Locke fans who are tired of seeing our favorite character being "toyed with" by Ben. Touching on recent threads that Ben may in fact be "good". Maybe Ben is not trying to beat John down, but to temper his metal. Maybe Ben sees, as we have also seen since season 1 , that John Locke is the Lostie with the most potential to be "one" with the island. But he's not ready because of his waivering faith. Perhaps (kisas!LOL) everything Ben has done (I could make a list) to John, from embarrasing him in front of the "others", to shooting him and leaving him for dead, has been to help John, not hurt him. Maybe he is training a replacement? Maybe by time of the last episode of Lost (I'm tearing up here) our man Locke will become the leader and the hero we have wanted him to be since the begining.

that's interesting, like a quick battlefield promotion type of thing. he doesn't have enough time to groom him to take the leadership postion, so....good idea.
the military has a similar tactic in boot camp. 1st they tear you down, then build you back up the way they want you.

Yeah, I believe the stronger version of Locke is gonna come back very soon, he just needs to get his head together first and work with Ben

Locke could very well be the next Ben, but without that creepy little stare. Ben's eyes are angry. Locke's eyes are understanding and wise.

agree with you about Locke's eyes - from episode one. on target with that observation. HOWEVER, I would say Ben's eyes are intense, not angry. No, not angry...This is a man who knows exactly what he's doing and always stays a step ahead (well, with the unfortunate exception of Alex :( ), and Ben's eyes are the window to his soul... (hey, no eye rolling here; I really mean it! lol )

You're right. Intense is a much better description for Ben's eyes than angry. Good call.

Agreed, Ben is a man who is on a mision. He knows exactly what he's doing and knows exactly what he has to do to accomplish that mission. Intense is a great desription. And remember as far as Ben wanting to help Locke, the whole reason he was captured by the Losties was because he was on his way to get Locke. He didn't send someone else after Locke, he risked evreything including his life to see that it was done.

I still love the scene when he carries fresh linens into his house and tells Sawyer and Hurley, "see you at dinner."

That WAS excellent, wasn't it?! I loved it too! I just crack up when they toss in lines like that at a completely wrong moment (or right moment!)
I'm still laughing at Miles ringing the doorbell too! How hysterical was that?!

I wonder what they ate that night. Maybe ham? Washed down with a little dharma beer? Did they say grace holding hands thanking the island for their nutritious meal before they dug in? :)
