I think Locke is being conned. In other words the island or someone got his confidence early on so now he will mindlessly do its bidding regardless of the consequences. He is convinced it will lead him in th right direction even if it leads to bad results, e.g Boone

So, if we assume that Locke's dad is also somehow connected to the island, then could he have stolen his kidney knowing that it would in turn save his life when he was faced with that situation?? The same way that Charlotte had on her handy dandy bullet proof vest when Ben (who she's there for in the 1st place) shot her???!!! Hmmmm......

i wondered the same about locke's dad...and no one could be that much of an ass..there had to be something good about that man...also..locke's dad seemed to know exactly where he was and joked about it being hell

This comes back to the time travel theory...what if somehow locke's dad originally worked for DHARMA who sent him into the future so he knew locke died from the shot... he came back to the present, left DHARMA, and stole Lockes kidney... this would also explain why locke has heard nothing from him until he contacts him...just a theory

Interesting theories about Lockes dad being good in getting the kidney. But, nope. That man was a demon if I ever saw a person in a movie or television show be a horrible human being. That man deserved to die. He stole Lockes kidney for himself, not to save Locke in the future. That man was a pure piece of crap that gives crap a bad name. He killed a young man who was goign to expose the con man to the young mans mother. When Locke tried to interfere with this evil mans ways, he pushed Locke through a window from the 8th floor... the objective? To KILL him! Please look at all the information, and I'm sure you will agree with me... I hope...

I view Locke as the best character. If I wasn't a viewer watching a fictional show, and I wouldn't have seen everything that we have been shown regarding his past and the experiences he has had with the island and helping others on their path... and I was actually on the island missing all that info, I don't think I would like Locke as much as I do, and maybe would have followed Jack. But given that I know all that info about Locke, Locke is the best character in my view. Quite a good person.

now that i think about it, Lock's dad could have been a good guy, aside from conning Sawyers parents, and the many many other families!!!!!! What ever happened to the notion of Locke being immaculately concieved??????

I think it is just fate...Locke talks about FAITH too...A series are events happened the way they did so Locke would end up on the island? I don't think Locke's dad is a good person...He played his part unknowingly helping Locke in the future.

Thats what I meant when I posted this thread, I was talking about how he is a man of faith, and everything happnes for a reason, thats why his kidney was stolen and therefore he survived. Locke's faith grows!!! And whoever said they hate locke, well u diserve to be marooned on an island somewhere, cause if you listen to him at all you can learn so much about not only LIFE but u learn somthing about yourself as well. Great character.

Everyone has their redeeming quality on the show..even Ben (this season)
Locke never had a purpose off the island and this is why he feels so strongly about the island. Locke's character has its annoyances, but ultimately, Locke is a solid character, who in the end, I hope is right :)

And the bullet proof vest are worn by all the 4 who came to the island...their first reason to go there isn't for the survivors...its obviously for something that is dangerous (ie. gun, protective gear, gas masks, bio hazard bags)...it just is a coquendence that Ben shot at her thinking he may kill her.

Yeah, I would wear a bullet proof vest going to an unchartered island too, with smoke monsters, and others and **** running around, I would bring an M-16 too. THey came for Ben for some reason, don't know why, he must've done somthing bad, besides exterminating Dharma LOL

i think ben knew she was wearing a vest and if he shot her and revealed it, it would make everyone wary.
