Island south of the Phillipines

So we have been told that the plane is in a trench somewhere south of the Phillipines. Obviously that wasn't the real plane that they found because the pilot died in the jungle IN the plane. Plus, we are told by the new character that he isn't the captain. So why bother lying to the public about finding the plane? Why do you think they are going through all this trouble?

I believe that the dharma initiative and oceanic are affiliated with each other. The whole finding of the plane is a cover up, and they are reporting all of the passengers dead so that the outside world will stop their search of the survivors and the island can remain hidden, with their overall plot being to get back at Ben and take back the island for themselves.

Very good conclusion. Oceanic is definitely am evil enterprise. Why do I say evil? Who is the dead body in the plane.... someone they had to kill to make the cover-up believable! That is a bad company. Ruthless.
