So while John is in the hospital after having his spine crushed the guy pushing his wheel chair (who we all know is part of the people who sent the boat to the island in the first place) says that locke needs to go on a walkabout with only a knife and he'll come back a changed man and locke says he cant because hes paralyzed..obviously.
so what im getting at is..
this trip to the island is his walkabout? he's got his knives and now he can walk.
just an example of john being meant for the island

He has definitely been able to "walk" about the island, that's for sure. For some reason, he gets a little crippled when things don't work the way they are supposed to...hmm

Good point. I forgot about Locke being paralyzed from time to time on the island. That makes me wonder if John will be paralyzed again once the island is through with him.

That's a REALLY interesting observation, one I like a lot. I believe that Abbadon was part of the grand conspiracy (by whom, I don't know - I used to be convinced that "The Island" posessed supernatural powers, like picking certain people to be on Flight 815, the island demands a sacrafice, the island wants this or that, the island "won't let you kill yourself, Michael" but lately I'm wondering if it's all Jacob) to get all the Losties (especially Locke) to Australia, and then onto Flight 815. "Australia is the key to the whole game." But John never got his walkabout, something we kinda have to surmise that Abbadon (is he ageless too?) really did go on and it changed his life (maybe he was on the island for a time after that trip?) and he knows that the same will happen to Locke. It sure is Locke's Time of Self Discovery on the island, and he only has his knife and his wits. It's the same scenario.

Yea, since Ben got the tumor once the island was "through with him", I'm sure John's time will come as well.

"Australia is the key to the whole game."
I hadn't even connected Hugo saying that while they played Risk, to the theory of the game between Ben and Widmore. Great observation Lockeisthekey.

Again, let's explore the idea they are all put there to "better" themselves.
Don't forget to look at the hanso's main objectives too. these are all hints.

Meh Ben & Locke Had Crappy Fathers, Plus i think Lockes mom is a slut and she didn't have the seed from the old jerk con-man.

I do agree that once the island is through with you things will happen. I think Locke is reaching his prime. there is no doubt this series will end with him on the island.

I think that Ben is and will always be in charge..... he's the only one who knows this....

Locke and his knife being left on the island reminds me of the fiction book Hatchet where a plane crashes, and a boy is left on a deserted land with only his hatchet to help him survive. Its a good story and a quick read. No paranormal stuff just survival themes.
