I was thinking why they want Ben so badly and I came to a good answer: OK so Ben is the only person from the true Dharma initiative since he came with his Dad and killed everyone else involved with the Dharma Initiative. All the other people are natives to the island. I don't know exactly what this means but it seems like it has something to do with keeping what the Dharma Initiate initially did as a secret. Let me know what ya think.

At that, Ben knows what the natives revealed to him. What specifics would he know about Dharma's goals, being a janitor?

Maybe the four new people are from the dharma initiative and they know ben helped the others kill off the dharma peeps on the island?

thats what i think...here is what i posted in another thread:

My guess is this, Ben has always had people off island (remember he told some one over a radio to show a local paper and Juliet's sister in the park?) I think that the people who are looking for the island are actually part of or affiliated with DHARMA. It just seems like too big of a operation to have all of its people on island. I think when Ben initiated the "purge" He started blocking all transitions off the island knowing full well that DHARMA would be.... well ... pissed lol. and that it was a island that cant be found because of its electro magnetic umbrella. As for DHARMA knowing who he is or having a picture of him? Well, Ben's father was a DHARMA employee, and per the episode where Ben kills his Dad so was he (He had a "Workman" uniform on) I'm sure that pic was from when he was employed for DHARMA and maybe during the purge one of his fellow employees got word out back to base before he/she died/escaped.

I continue to think Hanso is behind the freighter. He invested countless millions in DHARMA and Ben destroyed everything plus killed his people.

I can't blame him for wanting Ben.

Right, which would explain why he was so desperate to keep them from the island.....they want to kill him.

If Ben was sneaky enough and being as smart as he is AND knowing full well they were there for him why did he not shoot Charrlot in the head (or at least aim for it). I would have thought he would have had the forethought to know she would be sporting a bullet proof vest. Maybe he was using that to build more trust of the Losties rather than shoot her knowing full well that they would in turn cap ben following Charrlot's demise.

according to find815.com (a site affiliated with abc) the christian I was looking for the Black Rock which was owned, a hundred or so years ago, by Hanso's great (great? great?) grandfather.

i dont know where i was going with that thought.. but in my head, i came to the conclusion the people on the freighter were connected to Dharma..

I also think that they are with Dharma, and maybe want to destroy the island b/c of what the original Dharma people documented about what was going on on the island and what it's capable of. I think of it as like the Fountain of Youth. If you had discovered this island that has these mysterious healing powers on top of other powers and you were like Ponce DeLeon or other greedy people, you would use up as much of the resources as you can for yourself, so you essentially become immortal, but you can't have everyone living forever, so you destroy the rest of it so no one else can get to it.

Magnetic studies show they have substantial healing powers.

Im glade you asked. Your forgeting who Ben knows personaly. Jacob. Jacob knows many things. Enough to guide our passangers as he did. Perhaps Jacob saw the Dharma as a destructive force and they needed to be removed. So Jacob revealed his knowladge to Ben and Ben carried out the plane. Just as Locke knows everything on this island. Because the island has opne dup to him. Jacob is guiding Locke. "You have work to do" Locke knows that wasn't Wlat. It was Jacob helping Locke get back on track.

1. To have all of these operatives and send subs around it takes $$$. Ben must have financial backing or something. There is Mittelos Bioscience but that leaves questions

2. As a janitor I guess he would have access to the stations when no one else was around and could do a lot of snooping.

All the other people are natives to the island.

Not necessarily. For example: Juliet. Some people are natives, where they originally came from we don't know, but they were native compared to Dharma's people. I suspect at this point, some are the natives, some are fresh new blood.
