Not that kind of rant (well, maybe). Rant, the book by Chuck Palahniuk. It's as good a clue as to what's going on, in my opinion, in Lost, as anything else I've come accross. If you haven't read it, go do so now, you wont be dissappointed.

For those who have, are the parallels anything less than extraordinary? It makes me think Chuck is secretly onboard the Lost project.

For example:

*Ben, Whidmore, and now at least Locke it seems, are the 'Historians', the immortal time-travellers who have resolved their histories. Locke's mother's situation in S04-11, mirrored Rant's mother's situation in the book. Richard is clearly looking to find someone he knows, in a young child.

*The island is a 'liminal time' place - no aging, no need to shave, etc.

*Not to mention Hurley's 'invisible' friend, Dave (possibly another Historian (Jacob?)). Who's picture amazingly vanishes, and who seems to have a penchant for 'Party Crashing' type behaviour (such as jumping off a cliff into the ocean - if only drove off the cliff in a car with a burning chrismas tree on the roof).

The show even starts (almost) to make sense, when seen from a Rant perspective.

Looking for other's thoughts on this .
