Maybe, if the island is trapped in between past, present, and future, that is why all the pregnant women die.

In other words, there isn't a history for a new born if they are started on the island vs. those that began some where else and finished off the island.

Aaron began on the island and we now know he is one of the 6 that gets off the island (Past and future).

True Sun, was pregnant possibly off the island (cheater cheater pumpkin eater) and will have her baby (last episode still shows her pregnant) off the island.

Good question.

I would say he spanned from some other ship / plane that was captured by the "Others". Hence the reason to brain wash him later on.

They figured since he had been around, he was good to go; but, Ben didn't see it that way and felt he needed the full meal deal.
