Jack Sucks....

OK, I started the series off as a huge fan of Jack but after the first hour of TNPLH, I'm pretty sure he sucks. He is, by far, the most self-righteous character (yes, moreso than Locke or Ben) and a clear wanna be martyr with his whole "I told those people I'd get them off the island" and "I put Sayid and Hurley on the helicopter" comments and hasn't really delivered anything meaningful since season 2.

Doesn't he know that he's not powerful enough to determine the outcome of things? Doesn't he realize that the island is all-powerful here? Doesn't he watch this show!?!?!?!?

I agree wholeheartidly. Feels like he isn't as important as he used to be.

Lol, I don't know of anybody that actually likes Jack. That's not because of poor writing or acting; both are fantastic imo. It's just that he's so cynical, suspicious and self righteous, like you say. Part of me feels sorry for him though, especially in the flash forwards.

Though I do think he still has an important part to play. Maybe he'll be the catalyst for the off-islanders going back. I'm pretty sure that the island wants him; I think the island has been sick or damaged since Dharma's 'invasion/manipulation' of it, and it senses Jack's profound desire to fix things. Plus his 'daddy issues', and it's apparently paternal urge to seems to manifest in it's prophets (Ben, Locke...)

I'm sure everyone knows by now I hate Jack. I mean what even made people think he qualifide as a leader. Because he's a doctor? Gimme a break! That's mostly book smarts. This is a jungle not an o.r.!

I was ready to give up on Jack, but then I saw Speed Racer this weekend. He did pretty good as Racer X, so I'll have to give him another chance. :)
