View Full Version : The Island demanded a sacrifice?

Sorry, I'm new to these forums and I don't know if this topic has been brought up before.

In the episode "Deus Ex Machina," Locke had a dream of the drug cartel plane falling from the sky and a bloody Boone saying "Theresa walks up the stairs and falls down the stairs." Later it was revealed that Theresa was Boone's caretaker and that she fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck. So Locke must of know the plane would fall and I think he purposely asked Boone to climb up to the plane. It's also noted that the Island conveniently took away Locke's ability to walk during this time, just so he couldn't climb up that cliff, but afterwards, he could walk just fine to carry a half dead Boone back to Jack.

I think the Island needed a sacrifice just so Aaron could be born. This island has some wierd vendetta against pregnant women, so it demanded a life just so Claire can give birth in that same episode. I also noted that Kate was the one that helped Claire during Aaron's birth.

I also think that Danielle had to sacrifice her whole crew just so she can give birth to Alex, and the "sickness" was just the Island's way of telling her to kill them all. It's wierd that she didn't contract this sickness herself, and no Losties have been infected, so I don't think they'll mention it again.

It's also wierd that the "special people" had their parents died in wierd circumstances.

Locke had to kill his father, because either the Island wanted him to cut all ties with the his past, or it was a needed sacrifice? But, John couldn't do it, and Richard had to suggest Sawyer, which to me seems that his father just needed to die...

Ben's mother died during his birth, and he killed his own father.

Walt's mother died from some wierd genetic blood related illness that we don't know about. Michael might blow up on the freigter soon too?

Aaron's supposed "step-dad" Charlie drowned in the Looking Glass, and I don't know if Claire is dead or not?

These special people either aren't meant to be raised by their biological parents, or they're being tested in an adverse situation to make them stronger. Sorry for my long rant. :D

i like the idea that locke lost the use of his legs so that he couldnt not climb up and endanger himself.

however i am not sure i there are sacrifices as such or if this was lockes interpretaion at the time due to how he perceived the island.

Welcome to the board! Those are some very interesting views - you've made some really good points there! I'm not sure if Claire is dead or alive myself - I'm still holding out for her being alive cos Desmond saw her get on the helicopter AND Charlie's note to Jack saying he's not supposed to raise him - if Jack's not supposed to raise him then to me it seems like ONLY Claire is supposed to raise him and she's still alive - I hope!

Your right bunny, Locke was doubting himself/the island that's why he lost use of his legs.IMO. But I see Eternally-Lost how you assosiated that with Locke and Boone. I believe when Locke was questioned by the other Losties about Boone's death he said, " The island demanded a sacrifice. Am I correct? And that is a good point though about the sacrafice for a birth theory I like it. And welcome aboard!

reminds me of a Bruce Willis line in Sin City,
"An old man dies, a little girl lives!Fair trade!
