Walt is the Spy that is on the Freighter. When Ben told Michael to head north in the little tugboat, he would run out of gas, but he would get picked up by a boat. That boat was the freighter and Ben knew that the freighter was coming. Michael and Walt are now on this boat, the people on the freighter would of course not give michael and Walt access to communication equipment as they could possibly send messages back to the island, HOWEVER Walt has powers!!!!! he can telepathecly communicate with the island, therefore being the spy on the freighter!!!!!! case closed!!!!!! what do yall think.

Eh, maybe.

But I don't see why Walt would serve as Ben's spy.

not a spy for Ben, but for the island

Maybe. And then "the island" is relaying the info to Ben?

Also, how are Walt and Michael getting full histories of the team members?

i think this could be possible. Walt has appeared to other people, not just Locke. Remember when he was in the jungle and appeared to Shannon...
I don't know if Walt can telecommunicate, but I do think he is on the island's side (ie. strong friendship with Locke...very cautious of the island...able to hear things...didnt want to leave)

i think Ben has things available to him that allow him to know about other people...remember how he found out of Jack, etc? He has TVs, internet, etc etc on the island. He has connections...I don't think the island "tells him things" I think Jacob is relying things to him, but Ben has to find ways to get the information in order to carry out Jacob's purpose for him and the island, etc.

it could be possible that walt is being bribed into working for ben and is a spy but is able to appear to others to help them without ben knowing. maybe walt and michael WERE sent to the freighter and ben lied to michael about being sent home.

Hey, honey! haha

That's true. So it's possible Walt/Michael just gave Ben their names and he got the info in his usual way.

I don't think Walt is being bribed. I think Walt has a connection with the island..some mystical "power" (for lack of a better world). I think Ben is manipulative and maybe they were rescused by the freighter. but honestly, Walt wanted to be on the island and I think he may have met Jacob and now is being a messager and helping for the good of this island.

i dont think walt is intentionally causing harm to the lostiees by informing Ben. Rather Walts deep connection with the island/jacob/locke allows him to be sort of "one minded" with the island/jacob. His purpose and ultimately Ben's as well is to help the island, but Ben being informed of the freighter's background and purpose is simply a byproduct of walts efforts.

I applaud the creative thinking - but I'm not sure I'm buying it. If Walt is communicating with Ben, then in theory, Ben and Locke are on the same side of the equation. If Walt can see what's happening via telepathic connections to people, why did he allow Ben to shoot Locke?

Beyond that, why is Walt then appearing older to Locke? This is clearly some kind of time/space component there... 90 days is too short a time for Walt to be entering puberty. Locke acknowledges the physicality of it - that he has, indeed, aged.

What about our Ruskie friend? Could he be on the freighter?
