View Full Version : A minor thing that's been bothering me

Frank Lapidis' flash[back] scene in the Bahamas. He is watching the TV and sees the remains of Seth Cooper.

Here's what bothers me. The people that are [obviously] trying to cover up the plane crash have NO good reason to keep the camera on the pilot's dead body for so long. It must have been a HUGE media event when the plane was "found" at the bottom of the ocean, so why on EARTH would they run the risk of someone recognizing the pilot (or features about him) that could debunk their cover-up?! That TV camera focussed on that pilot from when Frank first saw him until AFTER Frank got off the phone with that person from Oceanic. It was at LEAST 30-45 seconds. It's just stupid.

If their true motive is a cover-up only, it doesn't make sense. However, it could be that Oceanic wants to find all the people that may be connected in any odd way to Oceanic 815 to eliminate them also.

Wow. Actually, that makes total sense. Perhaps Oceanic Airlines is trying to cover-up the crash (well, I think that's certain, not perhaps), but they are making the cover-up complete by sending everyone who is suspicious (Frank), curious (Daniel), or dubious (Charlotte) about it BACK to the Island to silence them!

You think Oceanic is covering up the crash by itself or is Hanso or someone else helping?

I think Oceanic is the most likely culprit, but I am open to outside competing agencies (perhaps rivals of DHARMA). I am also open to another agency/entity assisting Oceanic.

I think it makes more sense (or is at least more interesting) for Hanso or something to plant the fake plane so Oceanic will call off their search and not find the island.

I like the idea that Hanso is trying to protect the Island more than Oceanic is trying to cover their asses for not knowing anything about this crash.

i think the long pause on the pilot was purely for telly land purposes - how else could they show us the finger as he was saying it after bickering with someone first and then being put on hold.

why do you think that the people who are covering it up are the people either running the underwater cameras or broadcasting the news????

Well, I assume Oceanic are the people that own the underwater equipment. After all, it's been stated that since the plane was so deep in the water, they had to use underwater equipment to view the wreckage, i.e. they couldn't send divers.

But perhaps the underwater equipment isn't owned by Oceanic.

Didn't we hear that Oceanic called off the search and then the Christienne 1 happened upon wreckage?

Oceanic is pure evil, the greatest evil we have ever seen!!!LOL These people are nuts, not they want to move inland and take out everyone's families that may figure out that their loved ones are still alive. This is crazy, Oceanic may be at war with the entire world, but no one knows it. That black dude the attorney freaks me out, he just looks like someone u don't want to be around.:D

For those who have completed the find 815.com, the underwater cameras shown at the very begginning are operated by the freighter ( The Christane I) which is looking for the black rock. They come upon 815 accidently, I believe.

I didn't play it either. I thought we heard that in the flashbacks/forwards of the 4 freighter people. The radio was talking about it in Miles', I think.

Well actually... if you remember the opening scene from the view of the underwater camera, they are actually who found the plane. Maybe Oceanic dumped a plane and some bodies hoping someone would come across it, and by the time someone did, the bodies would be unrecognizable. In this case, it worked. Although, they might have not thought deep enough into it, to include wedding rings on or off, etc. So that 20 second shot of the pilot I think was footage from those people searching for the trade ships, not oceanic footage.

But, in reality, the news wouldn't really show footage of dead people they found in the plane while listing a support number for the victims families haha.

But if Oceanic was going to fake the plane, why not find it themselves?

All I gotta say is, if that is a real plane down in the bottom of the ocean, that's quite an expense to go through just to cover something up.

Those planes cost hundreds of millions of dollars, assuming it's real.

Exactly. That's why I'm thinking Hanso, Paik, something.

The Others clearly have massive resources at their disposal.

It's possible that the losties crashed and Ben and the others notified whoever funds thier **** that there were survivors, so they planted the plane to keep people from snooping around.

yea, if you think about it, Sun's dad is probably just as rich/powerful as Penelope's dad. Maybe he could be looking for Jin and Sun somehow, sometime... we'll probably see more of him eventually.

Interesting, I had never thought of it from the angle that the missing ring might have been intentional. Perhaps to draw people out for elimination, perhaps not.

I think The Maxwell group planted a duplicate plane in the ocean. The Christine I was sent out to search for The Black Rock treasure ship. Then the Maxwell Group cleaverly leaked the coordinates to Sam on The Christine I to make it look like a surprise finding of 815. The Maxwell Group wanted to stop people looking for 815 to keep them away from the island.
