when locke talks about walt appearing to him and he describes him as being taller etc...this kinda implies he has seen an older walt - maybe walt from the future.

if michael is in the coffin, the future is not looking too rosy for walt being an orphan and everyone else we know who is back is miserable so perhaps he is projecting himself back to locke using his special ability in an attempt to change what happens so the future is changed.

Is Walt really dead? All the folks seen in visions have previously died, Jack's dad, Shannon's brother, Eko's brother, etc. Otherwise, Walt would be the only exception to this rule.

I don't think Walt is dead personally....there is no reason to believe he was killed and even the Others found him quite "special" and important. Juliet and the other woman agreed that he needs to be off the island so maybe Walt poses a threat to them. I'm not sure what the writers are pointing to regarding Walt but I def think that they showed Walt looking much older for a reason and they keep bringing it up in the show. Maybe this goes back to the time travel stuff?? I mean how else would a fossilized polar bear get to the Tunisian desert with a 1980's Dharma collar on it?? Crazy stuff...

well we know he was projecting himself when still alive - shannon saw him and then we saw him with michael.

Another observation I had. Was it Walt's grandmother who the newbie Miles goes to inorder to get rid of the ghost of her dead drug selling grandson(Walt???) out of her house? Curious if someone else thought it a possibility.

Good point Bunny. Maybe they just need to explain why the child actor playing Walt has aged three years in real life and not just the three months on the island! LOL

PS-I loved Sawyer's new nicname for Locke: "Colonel Kurtz"

i wondered too but it doesnt really look like walt in those pics. michael was from new york but then i wondered if it was on his mothers side - not sure of his mothers surname.

I just think th at Locke was pointing out that Walt was older. Last time we saw Walt was end S02. Then we see him next time at end of S03. So thats a year at least in between the seasons, the actor has grown up. For the island... it hasn't been that long.

So if they want to use the same actor, well they can't make him the same age he was when he left... they just have to play on the actor getting older... no?

you are probably right - they did need a good reason to explain it so why not make it a part of the show.

Like when an actress get's pregnant. They either right it into the character or have her always sitting behind desks, etc.

Bunny, i'm really startin' to think Miles went to Walt's grandmother's house . Didn't Michael ask her to take care of Walt at the airport prior to the flight. They went out of the way to show us pictures of him and we all know how everything is connected. We also got the impression it was an older Walt that Locke saw. It could give credence to Walt being in the casket and why Jack (post rescue) thinks there screwed for sure about getting back.man, I'm glad i got the flu and was able to take off a few days to discuss lost.
I digged the colonel kurtz line as well.

They said the grandson was murdered. The grandsons spirit was stashing drug money, that Miles went there to get. Could be Walt in the future... or it could be unrelated to Walt or anyone we know...

Its doubtful that Walt was in the coffin. I cannot imagine that Grandma would not have made it to the funeral. The boy in the picture or dead grandson may just be a precurser to another linked character TBD.

How could it be Walt from the future if it was a flashback?? And no that looked nothing like Walt.

I think the reason Locke says that he say a taller Walt is just a way for the writers to explain the actor playing Walts growth spert, but thats just me.

Walt looks older because he has aged due to leaving the island which causes a timeframe difference.......time travel theory again. It has to be - POLAR BEAR in the Desert w/Darhma Logo Buckle - its a time continuuummmmmmm thingy would be a better explanation (I think) any thoughts.
