Last season when Jack went to the funeral home, it was daylight, he spoke with the funeral director, and simply walked thru the door. Last nite, it was nighttime, a different song was on his car radio, he broke in....... Could it be he goes there twice to visit two different people?

Jack has some hang ups about death. I think he got drunk enough to build up the courage to want to see the actual body in the coffin to prove to himself exactly who it was that was in there. And/ Or he wanted to make some kind of amends for what he feels may have been his part in Locke's death. he now feels he should have listened to Locke and stayed. In my opinion he did go there twice. The second time for whatever reason, Ben was waiting for him or any of the 06 who might come to give the message. You all have to go back. Why did Ben let them leave the island in the first place and what has changed that they now must all return together?
Ben said to Locke that he always has a plan, but he didn't say that it always works out for everyone else's benefit.

Jack went to the funeral home twice, but it was to visit the same person.

I think he went back to prove to himself that Locke was indeed dead. Remember this whole thing started with him going to claim his fathers body and bring it back for burial. He has seen his dead father walking around and talking to him and found the empty coffin on the island. Just that alone would really screw a person up when it comes to death.
